TELL US ABOUT YOU TWO + YOUR WEDDING JOURNEY

We met in college on a hip-hop dance team. We were together 7 years before we got engaged.
We knew we wanted a destination wedding and we fell in love with Scotland through all our research. We wanted our family and friends close to us, so we knew a venue with onsite accommodations would be best and we were just in awe of Cambo Estate’s beauty.
We couldn’t have done anything without the help of Catrina Duthie from Fin Flükra helping us plan. It could be difficult at times to help everyone coordinate their travel but the team at Cambo Estate was so warm and welcoming.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR OUTFITS

I wore an off-white wedding dress with beautiful beading and vintage lace and added tulle bow straps. With the finishing touches of my mom’s necklace and her grandma’s earrings, plus a long simple veil.
Brian wore a custom, dark green, double-breasted suit with beautiful tortoiseshell buttons. We didn’t have official suits or dresses for the wedding party but asked them to wear shades of green, tan, burnt orange, and dark blue. We weren’t sure how it would turn out, but it ended up great!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CEREMONY

We had our ceremony in the library of Cambo Estate because it was so dreamy and felt like we were being taken back in time.
We chose special songs to us and had them played on the harp. We chose readings about true love and friendship and they were read by a close friend and my brother. My niece and nephew were the flower girl and ring bearer and they were so nervous they had to hold hands walking down the aisle. Brian never cries but I got a few tears out of him! We drank from a quaich because it’s a Scottish tradition and my oldest brother poured the scotch in it for us. Brian’s oldest friend handed him the rings for us.
We let our florist, Julie, execute her vision for the space with gentle guidance from us (lots of green and white with hints of pink) and she made it look perfect while still letting the beauty of the library shine through.
TELL US ABOUT THE RECEPTION

Most of the guests were onsite and got to wake up, have breakfast together, get ready, and then walk down the hall for the ceremony. Then we took another stroll downstairs for the cocktail hour and around the back for the reception.
We chose several songs that would get people up on the dance floor and our guests did not disappoint! The food was delicious and everyone was raving about the espresso martinis for days after. We had a couple of loved ones share speeches that made us feel so special and then we really danced the night away.
ANY LESSONS LEARNED OR ADVICE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?

The biggest challenge in planning is trying to make the perfect decision for every little thing. We had to let go of all the what-if’s and just pick whatever felt right for us.
I know everyone says this but it’s so true, the day will go by so much faster than you want, so be present through every moment as much as you can.
Laugh as much as you can, relax, don’t sweat the small stuff, take deep breaths, and feel the love around you!
