Humanist Society Scotland is the largest and longest-standing provider of humanist ceremonies in Scotland, with over 130 celebrants conducting legal humanist weddings and civil partnerships across the country. Humanist Society Scotland, a registered charity, has been conducting humanist marriage ceremonies in Scotland since 2005. In fact, it was because of the campaigning work of Humanist Society Scotland that you can now have a legal humanist wedding!
Only Humanist Society Scotland registered celebrants are permanently authorised to conduct legal humanist weddings in Scotland, some other celebrants have to apply to renew their authorisation periodically. With Humanist Society Scotland, your ceremony could not be in safer hands. When you book with them you also have the added peace of mind provided by their ceremony promise. This guarantees emergency cover from another Humanist Society Scotland celebrant in the unlikely event illness or unforeseen circumstances prevents your chosen celebrant from conducting your ceremony. Additionally, all Humanist Society Scotland celebrants are covered by public liability insurance.

We always wanted a humanist wedding and Lindsey was the perfect choice. She is exactly the type of person you want to conduct your ceremony – warm, funny and compassionate. We had several chats with her in the lead up the wedding and even the “homework” wasn’t too bad! Everything from keeping us right about the legal parts to including the small details about our relationship was done perfectly. There’s something magical about having your very own love story written and read out aloud to your friends and family, so it’s really important to make sure you pick the perfect person to do just that. We can honestly say that, with David, we definitely picked the perfect person. Everyone told us there were plenty of tears and laughter and our parents were raving about how it was such a lovely, personal ceremony. David was absolutely brilliant at putting us at ease. He gave us loads of examples of vows and symbolic gestures that we could include in the ceremony. We can’t thank him enough for everything he did from start to finish.

Gillian was the celebrant at our wedding and we couldn’t have asked for a more lovely person! Gillian kept in touch with us constantly through the lead up to the wedding, reminded us of timings and was always there to help if we needed her. On the day Gillian conducted the most beautiful ceremony. She’s just so genuine and kind and paid attention to all the detail we wanted included in our ceremony.
