A FUN FILLED VENACHAR LOCHSIDE MICRO WEDDING

Dreaming of an intimate, relaxed micro wedding, with magical Scottish scenery to boot? Rhiannon and Stephen’s wedding in the heart of The Trossachs is sure to inspire.

Having originally planned to get married in Bali, they switched locations due to Covid and were treated to one of the hottest days of the year in Scotland.

How did you two meet?

High school sweethearts (yucky, we know).

What inspired your wedding plans?

Our inspiration was simple; we wanted our wedding to be intimate, family-focused and easy going. We had seen previous weddings cause stress and worry, and we wanted the polar opposite experience.

We wanted it to be a moment to share with those closest, but also, something we would actually enjoy. All our decisions and choices were made in an effort to achieve this.

Tell us about your venue…

Venachar Lochside is a beautiful venue with an outdoor focus, situated on a Scottish loch side surrounded by trees and views to die for. What more could you ask for?

We love your outfits! Tell us more…

Rhiannon wore an a-line, beaded ivory gown. She had been too many shops, and decided to go to a local shop on a whim. She saw it in the window and, despite being the opposite of what she was looking for, fell in love immediately.

She followed the old adage “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” with her mother’s wedding ring attached to her garter, a new dress, a borrowed diamond pendant from her godmother, and blue toenails. Her mum also taped a silver six-pence to her shoe (another old saying).

Stephen wore a bespoke three-piece suit, made with a tweed-like fabric, in a lovely blue colour. His suit featured various finishes, including brown buttons, coloured lining, and stitching to match. He also wore a blue bow-tie and pocket square to match the suit lining.

Your photos are gorgeous!

We were drawn to Wild Soul’s candid photography of children, and seeing as we had five flower girls, all under the age of seven, we knew they were a great fit for the day.

They also offered a pre-shoot so we could meet them before the wedding, and this was great, and allowed us to be comfortable with them before the wedding day, putting us at ease. Nads and Shel are also really down to earth and funny. Great additions to the day!

Were there any challenges along the way?

Aside from the wedding being planned for another country (Bali), after changing plans due to Covid concerns, and settling on Venachar, we couldn’t have asked for the day to have gone better. Everyone was happy, healthy, and we got one of the hottest days of the year to top it off.

What was your first dance song?

L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole. No special meaning behind the song choice, it’s just a nice song! We ended up doing first dance later in the evening, when it got a little cooler, and got to dance outside.

Why did you get married in Scotland?

We chose Bali originally to keep our wedding small, and picked a scenic venue that looked onto water. In the end, we found the same almost on our doorstep, and are delighted it worked out the way it did.

Any advice?

Think about the things that are important to you; whether that’s who is coming, where it it’s being held, and don’t worry about everything else.

It won’t be perfect – nothing ever is – so as long as the fundamentals are in place, do your best to relax and make the most of it.

Honeymoon or minimoon?

Due to Covid restrictions, we kept it lower-key, and we went on a minimoon to Archerfield Estate for a few days after our wedding, enjoying a spa day, some nice walks and well-earned downtime.

What’s the one moment you will always remember?

The quiet moments! Rhiannon will always remember the drive up with her mum and dad, which presented a chance to take it all in, with those closest to her.

For Stephen, sitting with his family on the lawn as the sun began to set, clear skies still warm, reflecting on the hours earlier, something he won’t forget in a hurry!

A smores station is always a good idea we reckon! Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us Rhiannon & Stephen! x
