A Calton Hill proposal shoot

A romantic short winter break in Edinburgh proved the perfect opportunity for Mohit to propose to Krutika. After walking up Calton Hill to enjoy the incredible views over the city, he surprised her by dropping to one knee. That moment, along with Krutika’s wonderful reaction, was captured beautifully by The Gibsons. The couple are now excitedly planning their four-day long Hindu wedding.

The minute we saw these amazing photos we just had to know the story behind them. And we are so happy that we get to share it with you today!

We’d love to hear the story behind your proposal! What inspired you to choose Calton Hill?

While researching places to propose in the UK, Calton Hill caught my eye instantly. Neither of us had been to Edinburgh before so it was a perfect short break excuse!

What made the spot perfect for my proposal were the surrounding views, I knew on the day of the proposal even the photos will come out spectacular!

What did you love most about Scotland?

We loved the picturesque views, the city is like a beautiful painting. Especially the view from Calton Hill, we could’ve easily sat there for hours admiring the breathtaking views.

We loved the chaos free atmosphere, walking around and exploring the Edinburgh old city. We found a number of great restaurants and lots of tartan! We also took time out to explore Dean Village and definitely weren’t disappointed, it was so beautiful and tranquil, we just wanted to buy a house there!

The people were also so lovely, one time by the castle a passing Scottish man just offered to take our photo for us, now that’s not something you get in London!

How did your families react when you told them the good news?

Our families were over the moon, my parents knew about the proposal so they were eagerly awaiting a phonecall to hear the good news and once we told everyone they were all so happy for us. Krutika’s family didn’t know about the proposal planning so they were also pleasantly surprised, just like Krutika.

How are your wedding plans coming along so far?

Me and Krutika are right on track with the wedding planning. We just came back from India and have got all our outfits sorted!

We have four days of wedding festivities and the last day will be the main Hindu wedding, so there’s been a lot to organise, but we’ve been good at ticking our wedding to do list so far and just can’t wait for the big day!

What drew you to The Gibsons?

I found a few photographers in Edinburgh, but I really liked Scott and Chantal’s work. I must say I was definitely not disappointed, I’m so happy that I picked Scott and Chantal. When we met them they were so accommodating, kind and friendly. It didn’t feel like we were meeting for the first time.

Most importantly, they captured the main proposal moment so perfectly. They made us feel so comfortable when we went for our shoot afterwards as well and again captured all our moments. We got our pictures very quickly and loved them all, everything from the start to finish went so smoothly.

A huge thank you to them both! My proposal couldn’t have been captured any more beautifully.

So much love for this proposal story – huge congratulations Mohit and Krutika! We love the sound of your four day festivities and hope you have a fantastic wedding. x
