A MAGICAL, MUSICAL WEDDING AT THE RHYND FIFE

What happens when two musicians get married in a gorgeous outdoor setting? Read on to find out and see all the beautiful inspo shots. Gorgeous pink, gold & jewel tones plus a million fairy lights make this wedding about as romantic as they come!

How did you two meet?

We actually met when the band I (Kirsty) was singing with parted ways. Kieron asked if I wanted to work with the band he was playing with at the time, and after about 3 years of gigging together, we realised we had feelings for each other.

What inspired your wedding plans?

We really wanted our wedding to feel personal. Music is such a huge part of our lives, and the reason we have met a lot of our best friends. We chose every song in our daytime playlist for a reason, and had two of our best friends perform during the ceremony. We really wanted every element of the day to feel special to us, such as the readings we chose too. Our family friend married us, and we chose to have a Christian ceremony to give a nod to Kirsty’s Mum’s strong faith. Kieron’s mum provided childhood photos for each age to add to the table numbers, and our gift postbox was a guitar case! Most importantly, we wanted every guest there to feel relaxed and included. Wee touches like a pizza van instead of an evening buffet and a colin the caterpillar wedding cake probably horrified our mums, but ended up being what everyone remembered and were very ‘us!’

Tell us about your venue…

The venue was the perfect location for us, being near the sea and set amongst beautiful fields. The venue prides itself on being a completely blank canvas with no restrictions on suppliers, which was perfect for what we had planned. Lisa the venue coordinator was so passionate and easy going, we didn’t go and visit any other venues after seeing the space!

We love your outfits! Tell us more…

I knew I wanted something which was quite botanical and romantic and had looked at a few dresses online. After listening to me talk, Kayleigh the stylist in-store, chose one last dress as a wild card for me to try on…which ended up being the dress I chose. I never imagined myself wearing a veil but once I tried it on I couldn’t say no! I also personalised the soles of my shoes with a special phrase that Kieron and I say to each other.

Kieron wanted a dark blue kilt and chose one online during the first lockdown. He went to try it on in Summer 2020, and ended up choosing a more casual dark grey tweed jacket instead of the black dinner jacket.

How did you choose your photographer?

We have known Siobhan socially for a few years through the local music scene but saw how fantastic she was at her job when we played at a wedding she was shooting. Since then we have followed her posts on social media and couldn’t believe how much emotion she captured in every shot. She is the kindest, bubbliest person and is a delight to work with! She persuaded us gently to do a couples shoot in Tentsmuir forest, and they are the most special photos to us, as well as being one of our favourite parts of the day. She understood how special every person there was to us, and every time we look at the images we are taken back to all those amazing emotions of the day.

What was your first dance song?

Were there any challenges along the way?

Did you manage to stick to your budget?

Honestly…no. But we were happy with what we spent, as we wouldn’t change anything about our day. We also didn’t bother with a lot of the traditional elements such as favours, which meant we could really splash out on decor and of course the pizza van!

Why did you get married in Scotland?

We got married in Scotland because we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.

Any advice?

Not to worry about small details too much. Table plans can be stunning but they really only do get looked at once, just like favours etc. Focus on how you want your guests to feel and the rest will fall into place. And DEFINITELY go for some couple shots alone if you can.

Honeymoon or minimoon?

Thanks to ‘Rona we opted for a minimoon to Loch Tay. We chose ‘Waterfall Cottage’ overlooking the loch with a hot tub. Perfection!

What’s the one moment you will always remember?

We will never forget standing doing our vows, and taking a look out at all of our favourite people smiling back at us. After a horrible 18 months, this really did feel like a wonderful dream. Also running through the woods and up and downs and dunes in our wedding outfits as husband and wife.
