Tell us about the inspiration behind the shoot?

This shoot is for the couple who wants their wedding to combine things they love without compromise – DIY elements, an intimate tiny ceremony and a beautiful fusion of colour and class!

When thinking about planning a wedding, this past year has taught us a lot of things. The main takeaway I have learned is that less can be more. Fewer guests mean more venues available, more money to spend on things you love instead of food and drinks. Whilst this sounds amazing, it still is hard to plan a wedding as so many experts want you to believe you have to stick to traditions and themes. But since everything is new, and everything is allowed, why not break the rules a bit and just do whatever you want?!

This was the thought behind this shoot at the absolutely stunning venue, Netherbyres House. The house has been renovated and styled with so much love for detail by Sarah and Mike, and is able to host up to 70 guests and has 9 gorgeous bedrooms for your loved ones to stay in. Every corner in the house has a feast for your eyes.

When all your vendors understand your vision and come together to create something this special, you know you absolutely picked the right people for the team!

And how did you go about styling it?

Complementing the beautiful venue so well was Duchess Seerra and her props! Emma has been giddy as a kid in a candy store to pair her items to match the venue and the overall mood we were aiming for, and she literally hit the nail on the head. Her absolute showstopper driftwood arch was breathtaking! Assembled and disassembled in no time, this is an absolute hit for a ceremony room that needs to be turned around into the reception room. On top of her showstopper pieces, she just has a magic hand and taste to add small details and decoration items that just feel like they needed to be there and would leave a hole in the room if they weren’t.

In terms of flowers, we had the pleasure of Lucy from To A Mountain Daisy with her amazing talent. Dried wedding flowers seems to be a new trend, and I for one could not be happier about this! Think of how many times brides will give their bouquets away or have them professionally preserved in some form. Now, everything is done for you and all you have to do is choose a place where your bouquet will live forever on. Lucy is a magician and managed to dry her flowers in a way that all colours still popped and the bouquet was a beautiful addition to all the things happy and colours of the day.

To add to this beautiful experience we worked with Emma Lou Stationery for the invitation and menu set. I absolutely loved how she managed to tie in so many colours into the stationery and still make it look elegant and classy. This is why you work with professionals, they hear what your thoughts are and translate them into the most beautiful designs and products! Emma used beautiful coloured envelopes, wax seals and golden clips to pull everything together.

To balance the colour and quirkiness, Mette from Freja Designer Dressmaking loaned us this dream of a wedding dress, with beautiful clean lines and a romantic lace detail top. A wedding dress does not have to be heavy, uncomfortable and stiff, you need to find your perfect dress that does not only look amazing and make you feel confident but should also feel comfortable when you wear it. Mette worked with our model’s measurements to make sure this would be the case. All her wedding dresses are made for each bride and are custom fit to ensure the best experience on your big day.

To go along with the romantic feeling, we used accessories from Alexandra Bespoke Bridal who makes these amazing bridal accessories that look like they are made of sparkles and light. She uses Swarovski stones for the tiara and wires them individually around the band. We coupled them up with the matching Lunar teardrop earrings. Alexandra also provided the custom painted leather jacket that not only looked ace but also provided the extra bit of warmth that despite the beautiful sunny day was very much needed in the Scottish spring weather.

Our models were real-life couple Alex and Arvy who we came to know very well during the shoot and we had so much fun with them. I hope they were able to use this experience to get an idea of how amazing their wedding could be if they would just hire us as a dream team again!
