Scotland is back in lockdown – wedding number reduced to five

FEATURING

January 4th 2021 – Knowing it was coming didn’t make it any easier to hear. From midnight tonight Scotland is back in a lockdown similar to last March (although thankfully with some exceptions related to exercise and other mental/physical health boosting activities this time around).

And from Friday (Jan 8th), wedding ceremonies will only be allowed with five people. The guidance has just been updated to state that this includes the couple, and allows for two witnesses and the officiant. Plus a sixth person if an interpreter is required.

We know that for many of you, this news is heartbreaking. Particularly when this is your second, third, or fourth wedding date.

We created the WFILcircle for couples navigating this Coronacoaster, so please do lean into it in the coming weeks and months. It’s a warm, supportive space free from all the external noise – (couples only please).

Meanwhile, the WFILfam continues to be a welcoming community for our indie wedding crew. They’ve been amazing over this past 10 months, supporting each other and their couples through this tough time. Apply to join here.

No matter what your beliefs, and which boat you’re in, this news is likely to take a psychological toll. So please do stay safe and take care of you.

Together we’ll get through this. 🧡
