A stylish 1920s winter wedding shoot
FEATURING
Captivated by House of Schivas – a hidden gem in rural Aberdeenshire that now hosts weddings – photographers Hayley and Craig brought together a team of creatives to work their winter wedding magic in this historic house. With 1920s inspired looks, elegant stationery and styling, plus a surprise snow storm on the day, there’s lots to inspire here.
While researching ideas for the shoot, Hayley came across a stylish 1920s bride and knew that was the direction she wanted to go in. She then began to look at dresses by Eliza Jane Howell, who has drawn inspiration from the 1920s for some of her designs.
“I knew that I wanted the flowers to be really simple with lots of greenery, so this then became the colour scheme,” says Hayley.
“We did some mood boards and the florist and stationery designer worked closely together, I absolutely love what they came up with.”
It was important to Hayley and Craig that they had a real couple to model for the shoot, as they wanted the authentic connections that go with their style of photography. A friend nominated Hollie and Scott, who were wonderful to photograph together.
However, there was one element that couldn’t be planned for… the weather.
“On the day we had a massive snow storm. This was a huge surprise but of course we were delighted. Hollie perhaps not so much but she braved the cold for us! The day went brilliantly and everyone worked so hard, we were literally humbled by all the effort that was put in from every single supplier.”
We love a winter wedding, don’t you?! Sunshine and snow is an added bonus. x
