Rawnchy – An alternative bridal boudoir shoot

FEATURING

We’re beyond excited to share this alternative bridal boudoir shoot with you today – when Floral Menagerie and Off To Neverland Nails collaborate, we’re always smitten! They brought together an incredible team of Scottish suppliers to create some magic in Glasgow. Add one of our favourite designers, Miss Vivienne Lingerie to the mix and we’re talking heart eye explosions everywhere! We caught up with the incredible Lisa Gaston of Floral Menagerie to find out more…

Loving these badass vibes! Tell us more…

Inspired by the name and décor of our favourite pink vegan café, ‘Rawnchy’, we decided to create an intimate, alternative bridal boudoir shoot.

It was important for us to work with a team of Scottish suppliers. I’ve known Neil Thomas Douglas for years and I knew his style of photography would bring an edgy contrast to the saccharine sweet surroundings that we were looking for (I also knew he was veggie so would fit in well with our team!).

We dressed our fierce, tattooed model, Frenchie Fabulous, in the most delicate, pretty lace lingerie and asked her to lounge amongst clouds of baby’s breath and fluffy plumes of pink pampas grasses. A hand-painted vegan leather jacket and cruelty free sculpted nails completed the look. Oh yeah, and did we mention a special appearance by our hairless feline friend, Lady Freddy of Mercury?

What do you love most about Rawnchy?

We fell in love with Poppy’s aesthetic. If Frenchie and I were to ever consider opening a cafe, Rawnchy would be what we would conjour up! Poppy’s attention to detail with her chosen decor and her immaculately presented raw vegan cakes and superfood lattes is out of this world. We just knew that we had to collaborate!

And what inspired the styling?

I was really keen to move out of my comfort zone and work with flowers that I’m unfamiliar with. I’m known for heavy use of foliage in my designs so this time I wanted to create a bouquet using no foliage whatsoever and include exotic blooms that I don’t usually get the chance to work with such as orchids and anthuriums. More requests for bouquets like this please!

Another flower that I usually shy away from is baby’s breath – mostly because it smells like cat pee (sorry folks, but it kinda does!) but also because it’s become overused in bridal work in recent years. However, a few weeks before our shoot I spotted some rainbow dyed baby’s breath at my local wholesalers and all I could think about was making it into a giant, big fluffy unicorn cloud and what better location for it to hang than in the middle of RAWNCHY! The final element to join the party was masses of pink and natural pampas grass plumes – all the rage right now and personally, I can’t get enough of them either.

Were there any surprises on the day?

Not for us, but we gave passersby a few surprises when they caught a glimpse of Frenchie in her beautiful Miss Vivienne Lingerie!

I’d encourage all brides (and grooms!) to step outside their comfort zone and have fun with a pre or post wedding boudoir shoot.

So much love for this! And we really, really want a superfood latte with a side of pink cake right now. x
