Today we’re shouting from the rooftops to introduce you to Siobhan Stewart Photography. There is genuinely nothing that makes Siobhan happier than freezing memories in time. Her photographic style is light and airy, with lots of attention to detail and joy!
Siobhan also loves spending time with her fiance and their dog, Sushi, and loves to be outdoors with them both. She’s also quite the foodie so you might see her around some of Edinburgh’s eateries – of which there are lots, so she’s very thankful to live there.
Not only is she a well-travelled wanderer but she’s also a fantastic photographer. Let’s dive in and learn all about Siobhan!
How did you get into wedding photography?
At high school we had to create research boards in art class and, while doing so, I came across a photographer called Lara Jade who created fantasy-style conceptual photography. I hadn’t considered photography as a career before but her work opened my eyes to the possibility of the medium and I knew from then on that it was what I wanted to do.
It wasn’t until a few years into the photography business that I began to focus on weddings, I’d assisted another photographer and realised that I loved being able to capture such special memories.
What do you love most about your work?
I love being a part of such a special day and being able to freeze it in time so my couples can look back on their memories for years to come.
I also love that every wedding is unique and that I can tell the story of the day by capturing all the unique details and events that unfold.
Who/what inspires you?
I’ve always been a fan of fashion photographer Tim Walker, I love his ethereal and fantasy style, it’s what has inspired the light and airy look to my images.
I also love to travel and explore different cultures so I pull inspiration from my trips abroad as well.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
I definitely still plan to be photographing weddings, I’d love to have captured some more destination weddings as well by then too.
Tell us a secret…
Since I was young I’ve always enjoyed researching my family tree, I love how it makes me feel like a detective and you get that rush when you find out a cool piece of information.
One such detail is that land that was previously owned by family on my dad’s side was originally gifted to them by Robert the Bruce because they fought alongside him at war.
On a day off, we’ll find you where?
My fiance and I rescued our dog, Sushi in December so we love going out to the countryside for walks with her. We’re fortunate to live near the Pentland Hills in Edinburgh, so you’ll often find us exploring the area.
I’m also a big foodie and love trying new cuisines, so whenever I can, I dine out with my fiance at our favourite restaurants.
