Five Of Our Favourite: Adventure Elopements In Scotland

Filled with adventure ache and looking to start married life on your own terms? Somewhere remote and romantic, with an intimate outdoor ceremony, incredible scenery and delicious food and drink nearby? We hear ya!

These Scottish adventure elopements set our hearts a flutter the moment we set eyes on them. Taking place in some of our favourite parts of Scotland, these are areas we return to time and time again, to explore, roam and reconnect.

⚡️ 1. SETH & PEARL – TORRIDON, WESTER ROSS

Seth and Pearl met on a flight to Canada 10 years ago, and have been pretty much inseparable ever since.

Their love of mountains, lakes and adventure led them to one of our favourite parts of Scotland, Torridon in Wester Ross, where they were married by the shore of Loch Maree before taking a scenic drive around the Highlands in a MGB convertible roadster.

Their photos and film by We Are Elopers took our breath away.

⚡️ 2. LAURA & ADAM – GLEN CLOVA, ANGUS

Laura and Adam’s love of adventure and the outdoors led them to Corrie Fee, a truly dramatic location surrounded by rugged mountains in the Angus glens.

While out for a walk in Glen Clova, and feeling inspired by the landscape, Laura spontaneously proposed to Adam. They returned there with their parents and their dog, and hiked in to the natural amphitheatre where their Humanist ceremony took place.

“I’ve never really been the sort of person to ‘imagine’ my wedding day,” she told WFIL. “It’s never been up there on my list of dreams. The thought of a traditional wedding left me feeling numb, while the idea of spending a year planning and being asked ‘How’s the wedding planning going?’ had me starting to think that perhaps marriage just wasn’t for me.

“I then discovered adventure elopements. I was instantly taken by the breathtaking photographs and authenticity of two people just heading off into the wilderness to make their vows. No crowds, no fuss, just them. That moved me, just the thought of heading up a mountain with Adam to get married would make me emotional. After a few discussions on marriage that took place well before the proposal we both knew completely and utterly that this would be how we would get married.”

If you are filled with adventure ache and looking to start married life on your own terms, then we think their story is sure to inspire.

⚡️ 3. SARAH & AMRIT – GLEN SLIGACHAN, ISLE OF SKYE

Fuelled by Tunnocks wafers, amongst the mountains, glens, waterfalls and gusts, two passionate souls converged to start the adventure of their life.

“In the year of cancelled plans and chaos, we opted for an elopement… We headed to Skye inspired by photos we had seen. We both wore elements from each other’s cultures, tweaked for the Scottish climate.”

Sarah & Amrit’s story gave us all the feels, and something tells us you will love it too! Their advice – do what you want to do.

⚡️ 4. KAYLEIGH & RILEY – CONIC HILL, LOCH LOMOND

Whether you’ve been planning a micro wedding from the beginning or your plans have changed to meet current government guidance, Kayleigh and Riley’s day is proof that small can be incredibly beautiful indeed.

Their elopement adventure started in South Queensferry, where they were married in an intimate ceremony before celebrating at an iconic Edinburgh restaurant. The next day they travelled to Loch Lomond and hiked up Conic Hill for these incredible photos, plus a spot of stargazing. So much to love!

⚡️ 5. HEATHER & ROSEMARY – EDINBURGH

Heather and Rosemary fell in love, eloped, and spent their wedding budget on their dream honeymoon in Scotland!

“We are the classic best friends that fell in love.  We are each other’s biggest fans, favorite comedians, and inspiration.  As queer women of mixed races with an age gap, there are so many reasons why we shouldn’t work as a couple.  But love is bigger than all that…

“Don’t feel like you have to do what you’ve seen everyone else do, dream up your own version of the perfect way to celebrate marrying the love of your life and go for it!”

They were married in Orange County, Southern California and celebrated afterwards at their favourite Mexican restaurant. When it came to their elopement shoot, they headed to their favourite European city and drew inspiration from Annie Leibovitz photographs, Carrie Bradshaw and all the glamorous queer performers who have inspired them. We love their style!
