Our top 10 photos of January

Almost a month in and it has been a beautiful start to the year here on the blog. From industrial wedding venues to rustic barns, castles in romantic glens to uber glam winter wonderlands, Scotland has well and truly delivered. It makes us chuckle that when we first started WFIL, some folks asked us if we thought there would be enough inspirational weddings to feature if Scotland had its very own blog. Ehm, yes, we think you’ll agree!

Our first real wedding of the year was Ant & Matthew’s ‘Match of the Century’ – a wedding spectacle set in a industrial coal mine outside of Edinburgh. We loved the way they made the day completely their own, and just wish they were our friends so we could have rocked up and enjoyed the party.
And as for their photos – put it this way, it was pretty hard to choose just one favourite! (Photographer – Photos by Zoë)

…So, we didn’t choose just one favourite, because we are crushing hard on these copper wrist cuffs, custom made by Planet Flowers for Ant & Matthew’s groomsmaids. Want, want, want! And as for their DIY stationery. Ah-mazing! (Photographer – Photos by Zoë)

Inspired by wild Scottish landscapes, Jenna and Dan’s wedding had it all: A fairytale castle in an Aberdeenshire glen, wild weather and cosy fires.
We loved the way they didn’t let the rain stop them from going up the Cairn o’ Mount hill for their incredibly atmospheric photos. Wish we were there right now! (Photo by Elemental Photography)

Ruth & Brett’s laid-back Perthshire wedding was planned in just 9 weeks. We loved their outdoor ceremony and the fact that a neighing horse got in on the action during their vows. And the look they are exchanging in this photo has got ‘Just married’ written all over it. (Photo by Brown’s Photography)

Clarissa’s dusky lavender dress got an incredible reaction when we shared her photos, and we are not at all surprised. It literally took our breath away when we first saw it. She married Paul in an intimate handfasting ceremony in a Victorian hunting lodge in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. So much to love! Winter wonderland wedding at Principal Hotel Edinburgh - Photographed by The Gibsons -0023

Mr & Mrs Love’s glamorous winter wonderland wedding had us at hello (seriously, how good is that name?!). Inspired by candlelight and rose gold sparkle, Amanda and Stuart were married in Edinburgh city centre. Their photos up on the roof of the hotel sent our hearts all aflutter. (Photo by The Gibsons)

We loved the moment Olivia walked up the aisle, caught beautifully here. Her mum restored her grandmother’s veil for her to wear on the day she married Kenneth. So very special. (Photo by Ryan White Photography)

Classical and elegant, Christina and Paul’s Glasgow wedding was packed with pretty. We loved everything from the lace and soft pink florals through to the travel themed table names. And as for the way this photo of their first dance captures Christina’s dress – incredible! (Photo by Carley Buick Photography)

From the 12th century country house setting to the gorgeous dresses, Frances and Alexander’s wedding oozed elegance. We loved this relaxed, happy moment between Frances and her best girls. (Photo by Anna Urban Photography)
Huge thanks to all the couples who have shared their wedding stories with us this month.
