Situated on the Isle of Lewis, just minutes away from the famous Callanish standing stones, this purpose-built luxurious retreat for couples is full of attention to detail and thoughtful touches to make your stay perfect.

On spending our first night in the secluded lodge, we felt we could have been in any boutique city apartment until daylight the next morning. Opening the blinds, the sense of quiet and peace of the landscape is striking. This is a place where unwinding is not an option – both inside the lodge and out.

The lodge is self catering but with small details such as breakfast hampers full of wonderful local produce and romantic packages available to order. Black out blinds and a bed that seems to envelop you in its comfortable and luxurious linen means sleep is encouraged.

The highlight of these lodges is the large spa bathrooms complete with mood lighting, Rainshower, sauna and a double-ended RiverBath whirlpool bath. The chromatherapy (coloured light therapy) has an amazing instant effect as you sink down into the bath and immediately relax. Few spas offer the luxury of having your own private sauna and spa bath, complete with uninterrupted views over lochs and mountains. And there’s also the option of booking treatments in the dedicated treatment room within the lodge.

Whitefalls has been designed with every small luxury in mind – a place you could quite happily not step outside of for at least a week. But stepping outside is indeed another one of its beautiful and utterly unique features. An island where time slows down, the main cause of traffic jams are cows wandering down the road and the landscape is just breathtaking in a wild, natural way.

The summer months bring moments of wondering why anyone goes abroad when we have access on these islands to empty, white sandy beaches and turquoise crystal clear seas. And the approach of winter brings the possibility of having a first class view of the Northern Lights.
