Time-hop back with us a few years to this stunning, wonderfully unconventional wedding with its soft autumnal feel. Mansfield Traquair was the striking backdrop and we love everything about this wedding. Happy #TBT…

Love at first sight, or gradual attraction?
Love at first sight!
We were inspired by…
The splendour of Mansfield Traquair! We also wanted an organic/woodlandy feel to the décor that would be in keeping with the autumn season.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
We personalised everything, and we had a lot of help from friends and family! We wanted the day to be unique and elegant at the same time. The ceremony itself was a Humanist ceremony, so that meant we had a lot more freedom when writing our own vows and choosing readings etc. We also steered clear of traditional wedding music.
What was on your wedding menu?
Scottish tapas trio of smoked haddock, haggis and blue cheese parfait; daube of highland venison; tarte tatin with cinnamon ice cream; lots of good wine!
First dance – choreographed routine, or sedate shuffle?
Sedate shuffle to Nick Drake’s Northern Sky.
What is your advice for future brides and grooms?
Don’t be a slave to tradition.
What is the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
The excitement when we got to see each other for the first time, and seeing the venue set up so beautifully. It was like a fairytale!
We love that Kirsty threw tradition to the wind and opted for a colourful Linea Raffaelli gown, paired with a beautiful jeweled bouquet. Feeling inspired? Alie x
