Today we’re travelling to Perthshire for an autumn wedding inspired by pastel colours, with a hint of dinosaurs! From the candlelit proposal to their Scottish castle celebration, we fell head over heels for Rhona and Poppy’s love story. And just wait ’til you see what one of their guests surprised them with on the day…
Love at first sight? How did you two meet?
We met through our university flatmates and began dating when we both moved to London for work. We got engaged a couple of years later when Poppy proposed to Rhona in a candlelit garden surround by fairy lights.
We were inspired by…
We had a running theme of pastel colours, inspired by the bridesmaid dresses, with a hint of dinosaurs!
We made our own stationery and our cousins baked our cake. And our bridesmaid, Helen Woodhead was our florist. We also had musicians from Rhona’s job in the Army, The Band of the Scots Guards.
Our venue was Fingask Castle – a country house perched 200 feet (61 m) above Rait, on the fringes of the Sidlaw Hills, in Perthshire.
Your photos are beautiful! Tell us more…
Our photographers were husband and wife team, Brian and Paula of Crieff Photography. Their aim is to create images which capture the fun, energy or emotion of the moment and which you’ll enjoy looking back on in years to come. Most importantly they aim to put you at ease and enjoy the experience!
Tell us something surprising about your day…
A family friend, who sadly couldn’t make the big day, had two giant inflatable dinosaurs couriered to our venue for the dance floor. They were amazing!
Don’t get bogged down with the tiny details. It’ll all come together on the day, and if little things go wrong, it really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of a wedding!
Make some time on the wedding day for just the two of you. Soak it all up together, because it’ll be over before you know it!
Rhona is origianlly from the Orkney Islands, in the North of Scotland. And Poppy is from St Albans, in the south of England. So central-belt Scotland was actually the half way point for most our family and guests.
What’s the one truly unforgettable thing about your wedding day?
Seeing each other in our dresses for the first time.
Anyone else got their heart set on dinosaurs for their big day? Christina x
