Friday Loves

With Blue Monday just around the corner (sack that!), we are excited to bring you a whole lot of things to love. So grab a coffee (or a cheeky lunchtime wine, if it’s been that kind of a week!) and read on….

One of Scotland’s most unique venues (which we adore because it is so full of atmosphere and is the perfect place to party the night away!), The Caves lies in the once forgotten vaults under Edinburgh’s South Bridge.

They have a great offer on for those of you looking to get married this year – no facility fee on remaining Sunday dates in 2018. Get in there quick we say!

We’ll be featuring an incredible destination wedding at The Caves on the blog soon (people come from all over the world to get married there!), so be sure to follow our updates on Facebook if you aren’t already.

If you’re based in the North-East and are planning a creative, alternative wedding, then be sure to get yourself along to the Not Your Average Wedding event this Sunday (January 14th).

Hosted by hair and beauty experts, Linton & Mac in collaboration with Kim Dalglish Florist, the fair features a collective of local suppliers, including photographer Sam Brill (whose beautiful work you may have spotted here on the blog), The Little White Cow (whose Instagram account always adds an extra dose of pretty to our feed!) and the fantastic PaperSkeleton. Plus lots more!

The event is due to take place at Unit 51 and runs from 12noon – 5pm at Unit 51. There will be welcome drinks, a “behind-the-scenes” with Linton & Mac, and music from Paul Black, followed by a fashion show at 2/2.30pm, plus DJ Kev Reid and Manhattan Band.

Tickets are £10 each, with all profits going to Friends of Anchor. Be sure to come over and say hi if you spot us there!

“I really struggled to find a dress that would fit me properly with a boho style. I wanted to be able to dance, eat and breathe the whole night and the majority of the dresses I tried on restricted movement due to the bodice. I eventually found Freja Designer Dressmaker (I saw them on We Fell In Love!) and decided to give this a try. I sat down with Mette and we talked over my design ideas, fabrics, lace and finishings. I loved seeing the dress go from a design on paper to a completed wedding dress.”

Hearing that we helped Natalia connect with the (beyond talented) Mette at Freja, and design an exquisite dress that was exactly right for her made us smile lots!

If you missed it, then you can catch up on their rustic, country wedding here.

This week I’ve been mostly…

1. Making a list of 18 goals for 2018 (inspired by the Happier podcast).
2. Losing myself in Exit West – and planning a year of books based on this Penguin suggested reads list.
3. Getting excited to go wedding dress shopping with my best friend next weekend. She’s based in London, so this also helps me tick off my one trip a month goal for the year.
4. Ordering Vitamin D drops after having the flu (again!) over the holidays. Boo!
5. Admiring my minimalist festive wreath, which – despite being made by me – is still going strong thanks to Amanda and her incredible team at the Floral Design Boutique and their very fun workshop. You can check out more of their floral workshops here.

Hope your week has been filled with lots of lovely things. And if not, then fear not – the weekend is almost here! Christina x
