Our Top 40 Wedding Photos

When it comes to real weddings 2017 more than delivered. As we looked back over our favourite images we thought it would be fun to put together our top 40 of the year. Yup – we love a challenge. So here they are (in no particular order) our top 40 of 2017…

1. Ant & Matthew

Right back at the start of the year we fell in love with Ant and Matthew’s ‘Match of the Century’ – a wedding spectacle set in a industrial coal mine outside of Edinburgh. We can’t believe it’s been a whole year either! We loved the way they made the day completely their own, and just wish they were our friends so we could have rocked up and enjoyed the party.

2. Joshua & Elisha

From the handfasting ceremony on the white sands to the intimate celebration that followed, we loved Joshua and Elisha’s Scottish island wedding. Of all the walks they will take together, we suspect this will be the one that stands out the most.

3. Samantha & Michael

With its soft and romantic vibe, Samantha and Michael’s wedding was all about classical elegance. And as for their sunset photos – absolutely breathtaking!

4. Catherine & Michael

Bridal party goals: being supported by the boys… and trusting them not to drop you!

This is one of those shots that will always make you smile.

5. Mary & Jonathan

How about this for a ‘just married’ picture? And a literature themed wedding at that?

Mary and Jonathan’s Edinburgh wedding was simply sublime. Have a peak in case you’ve forgotten.

(Photographer: Crofts and Kowalczyk)

6. Cameron & Max

Romantic and chic we loved Cameron and Max’s wedding for so many reasons: her dress (inspired by her grandmothers) and their first look.

This photograph just oozes romance.

(Photographer: Ryan White Photography)

7. Christina & Paul

Classical and elegant, Christina and Paul’s Glasgow wedding was packed with pretty. We loved everything from the lace and soft pink florals through to the travel themed table names. And as for the way this photo of their first dance captures Christina’s dress – incredible!

8. Joan & Nairn

We’ve been so excited to share our guest blogger Joan’s wedding. It is literally brimming with Christmas delights.

And this photograph captures that top-of-the-world just married feeling.

9. Steph & Robert

From one season to another, guest blogger Steph’s wedding was jam-packed with spring elegance.

This sunset image of Steph and Robert is just sublime.

(Photographer: Jonathan Addie Photography)

10. Catie & Simon

What could be more fun that taking to the sea for a paddle on your wedding day?

Everything about this photographs sums up why should do your wedding your way and that’s exactly what Catie and Simon did.

(Photographer: Love Sky Photography)

11. Jenna & Dan

Inspired by wild Scottish landscapes, Jenna and Dan’s wedding had it all: A fairytale castle in an Aberdeenshire glen, wild weather and cosy fires.

We loved the way they didn’t let the rain stop them from going up the Cairn o’ Mount hill for their incredibly atmospheric photos. Wish we were there right now!

12. Isla & Gavin

Nothing says summer like ice-cream out of a pastel coloured camper van.

This outdoor Aberdeenshire wedding is filled with colour and fun. Avid readers of the blog, Isla and Gavin were inspired by many others. We love that they get to share their wedding pretty with you all…

(Photographer: Mack Photography)

13. Angela & Matthew

What started as honeymoon planning turned into an intimate Scottish wedding for two. Angela and Matthew’s fairytale elopement gave us all the feels! Rain or shine, all that mattered was that they got to marry each other…

(Photographer: Chic Photo)

14. Hannah & Oli

The mood and atmosphere of Hannah and Oli’s wedding is simply stunning and this photograph captures it perfectly. Who says you need sunny weather for your wedding?

With the theme of tails tartan and tweed the styling of Hannah and Oli’s wedding is perfect for their Scottish Castle wedding. We love it all.

16. Karyn & Duncan

Wide open space and glorious light, this photograph is one of those that makes our heart skip a beat. Karyn and Duncan’s farm wedding is a must see (and if you’ve not already viewed it, check out their wedding film by Cherry Tree Films)

17. Rob & Sandra

We love unique weddings Rob and Sandra’s stone circle wedding is bound to inspire.

This photograph, showing Sandra’s Dad waiting for her (surprise) arrival in a Royal Mail post van, shows how much they made the day their own.

(Photographer: Nicola Stewart Photography)

18. Clarissa & Paul

Clarissa’s dusky lavender dress got an incredible reaction when we shared her wedding photos, and we are not at all surprised. It literally took our breath away when we first saw it. She married Paul in an intimate handfasting ceremony in a Victorian hunting lodge in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. So much to love!

Helena and Gary’s is another beautiful farm wedding from this month.

20. Heather & Rosemary

This is one love story that had us all with lumps in our throat. Couple that with their love for Scotland and their simply exquisite Edinburgh location shots and we have been in elopement heaven.

If you’ve not read Heather and Rosemary’s story then what are you waiting for?

(Photographer: Marc Millar Photography)

21. Hannah & Craig

Sneaking in at the end of the year, here’s one from Hannah and Craig’s picture perfect west coast elopement. Their story (if you’ve not already read it) is a good one too…

(Photographer: Wonderful and Strange)

22. May Wan & Danny

Filled with fun and games, plus traditions including the tea ceremony, May Wan & Danny’s colourful, traditional Chinese wedding celebration made us smile lots.

(Photographer: The Gibsons)

23. Laura & Jake

Romantic and windswept Laura and Jake’s engagement shoot was inspired by their mutual love of hill-walking.

We love everything from their styling, to the setting and of course the third member crashing this photograph…

24. Audrey & Danny

Celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, Audrey and Danny travelled to Scotland, organising an anniversary shoot with longstanding friend and photographer, Faith. As a surprise, Danny planned a vow renewal ceremony. Their love is inspiring. And they had some fantastic advice for all married folks too.

This photo says it all.

(Photographer: Faith Dwight Photography)

25. Maureen & Pieter

Everything about this wedding made us smile, including the impromptu cheeky ice-cream shared on the way to the reception. And we especially loved that Maureen was able to design the dress she’d been dreaming of – pockets and all.

(Photographer: Andy Thomas Photography)

26. Vera & David

With a wonderful mix of Scottish-Hungarian wedding traditions, Vera and David celebrated their wedding with friends and family. The following day they took a trip to the Highlands – just the two of them.

We love this image – it’s all about the adventure…

(Photographer: Julian Gyula Zacsfalvi)

27. Claire & Ewan

There were so many things we loved about Claire & Ewan’s spring elopement – especially the fact that they took the dogs for a walk and secretly got married along the way. This photo makes us feel like we were there. All the feels!

(Photographer: The Curries)

28. Kate & Andy

The phrase joyful chaos has to be one of our favourite wedding descriptions ever…

With music at the heart of their day Kate and Andy’s wedding just looks like so much fun to have been a guest at. This image of the impromptu Hallelujah chorus captures it perfectly.

(Photographer: Crieff Photography)

29. Eilidh & Ross

Soft lilacs and gentle greys were the theme for this Scottish borders wedding. This is the perfect ceremony shot, showing friends and family celebrating with Eilidh and Ross.

Oh and this is the wedding with the silent disco – love it!

(Photographer: Ena May Photography)

30. Victoria & Kyle

The James Bond Stag theme of Victoria and Kyle’s wedding is just fabulous (as is the location).

But above all, we love that one of Gran’s last requests was for them to dip their toes in the water on their wedding day.

Technically this is two images, but one’s for Gran.

(Photographer: Hayley Fraser Photography)

31. Meghan and Thomas

This relaxed Christmas wedding, inspired by country living looks like it was a whole lot of fun to be part of.

We love these images with number 1 dog. Dogs with bowties always make us smile.

(Photographer: Karolina Kotkiewicz)

32: Georgia & Allan

After first meeting on a train, these two got engaged by a harbour and had their wedding in a giant cowshed. We loved the way they brought the outside in, with florals, greenery and romantic touches. This photo was one of our favourites from their day – it captures so much love.

(Photographer: Aboyne Photographics)

33. Sonia & Dave

Sonia and Dave ditched convention and made the day their own, including their own whisky tour.

We love this image, particularly special as Sonia binned her bargain wedding dress the day after the wedding. Now that’s the sign of a good party!

(Photographer: Neil Wykes Photography)

34. Sara & Charles

This wedding is so winter-luxe you will have you swooning within minutes.

Inspired by dark winter colours and an outdoor wonderland, Sara and Charles brought touches of Narnia to their day.

We love this romantic image of Sara and Charles…

(Photographer: Blue Sky Photography)

We loved Ash and Craig’s Scottish-Indian wedding. Their first dance, complete with confetti canon was a real highlight.

What a way to get the party started…

(Photographer: Sam Brill)

36. Natalie & Alan

A winter wedding that was full of their favourite things was the vision for Natalie and Alan’s Edinburgh wedding. We loved the sparkle, seriously pretty flowers and country club setting.

And as for this intimate moment between the newlyweds. Be still our beating hearts!

(Photographer: Photographs By Eve)

37.Winter Shoot

This styled winter barn shoot is chic with a capital C. From the lush seasonal floral installations, to the exquisite look of the girls, we think it oozes winter magic.

This image from the shoot is serene and festive all wrapped up.

(Photographer: Tandem Photo)

38. Sarah and Andrew

From the scuba-diving proposal to their homely-with-a-touch-of-rustic wedding, Sarah & Andrew’s love story made us smile lots. Their Scottish Borders wedding was packed with pretty purples and greens, homegrown hydrangeas, tweed and tartan.

Their photos were incredible. And we especially loved this sparkler shot.

(Photographer: Story of Love Photography)

39. Janet and Ewan

A “night at the museum with like-minded geeks” was how Janet and Ewan described their wedding. Inspired by childhood outings and a few of their favourite things – including Steampunk, rock music, comic books and Game of Thrones – their day was a true reflection of them.

And as for Janet’s dress and cloak! Designed and custom-made here in Scotland by Rinaldo Girasoli, they made our hearts skip a beat. And this photo perfectly shows just how Janet felt wearing them!

(Photographer: Mark Timm Photography)

40. Joanne and Ewan

Joanne and Ewan’s winter wedding was all about celebrating with their favourite people. Gathering family and friends together for a weekend was the perfect way of saying their I Dos.

We love everything about this photograph – the setting, the season, the romance…

(Photographer: Suzanne Li Photography )

Wow – what a fast year. We cannot wait to see what love stories 2018 will tell… Alie & Christina xx
