The snow has started to fall, the twinkling lights are up and the smell of cinnamon is filling the air. Winter is here and we are ready to welcome it with open arms. Here are a few of our favourite things this week…
Those of you who have been reading the blog for a while may remember us lending our support to Help Refugee’s Choose Love campaign last Christmas, along with many of the UK’s top wedding bloggers.
We’ve been continuing to follow the work of this incredible charity and are delighted to share their new online shop with you this week. Here you can buy a gift for someone in need this winter – whether it’s a hot bowl of soup, warm coat for a child or a pack of baby grows.
Suppliers we heart
Looking to tick some to dos off your wedmin list before Christmas sets in? Be sure to check out the lovely, creative and incredibly talented folks in the WFIL Wedding Collection. We chose them ourselves (based on our readers’ recommendations) and couldn’t rate them more highly!

Quote of the Week
Did you spot Maureen & Pieter’s beautiful Glasgow wedding on the blog. This backstory from the groom made us wince and smile in equal measures:
“The most surprising thing about our day is that it actually happened… While taking part in a military fitness class in January, Maureen broke her ankle in two places, requiring surgery with screws and a metal plate put into her ankle.
“On crutches and in plaster for six weeks before moving to crutches and a boot, Maureen only began moving without crutches in May, one month before the wedding. Needless to say it took intensive physio for Maureen to be able to walk down the aisle and some good flat shoes in order to complete the first dance!
“Our whole build up to the day was really dominated by this, so the relief and happiness felt that it didn’t end up affecting the day was amazing.”

This week I’ve been mostly…
1: Watching the Avengers: Infinity War trailer on repeat play and trying to spot Waverley Station (at 1:21).
2: Reading the latest page turner from Denise Grover Swank in the Rose Gardner Investigations series – one of my (many!) guilty pleasures. If you’re new to them, then read the mystery series first.
3. Thinking of ideas for my best friend’s hen weekend (would love to hear your tips!).
4. Finding lots of beautiful, handcrafted gifts in Harbour Lane Studio in South Queensferry. Love the sound of their Concrete Planter workshop!
5. Enjoying my first mince pie of the season, albeit with a side of Lemsip rather than mulled wine – boo to the winter lurgy!
What does the weekend hold for you? Christina x
