If you’re anything like us this may just be your favourite weekend of the year. It’s the weekend the clocks go back. And what that means is a whole extra hour (either to sleep or to party depending on what the weekend holds)…
Under the Dress
When it comes to what to wear under the wedding dress, the challenge can often be great. The dilemma between providing enough support and having no show (especially if you are wearing satin) can be great.
We’ve been hearing great things about the bridal range from Next and think it’s definitely worth checking out. With underwear to cover all eventualities it could be the very thing you’re after.

Groom Dougie on his outfit…
“I wanted a special outfit for getting married – and I have always had a “thing” for coloured trousers. So I jumped at the chance to get a pair of tailored trousers for the occasions. I didn’t want Trews – as I am not a fan of the style; but the shop were able to make a pair of hipster trousers specifically to my cut requests.
“The tartan was hebridean thistle. I already had a kilt in my family tartan; and so just wanted a tartan that I liked aesthetically.
“The icing on the cake was the matching shoes (another “thing” of mine!). The jacket and waistcoat matched the blue running through the tartan. Smart but not overly; and not too casual either.”
We are loving Dougie’s attention to detail. Don’t all grooms deserve to have a special wedding outfit?
My week in five
Some highlights of my week include:
1: Beach walking. One of my favourite pastimes and even better with some dramatic skies and a good sea breeze.
2: Planning Halloween. Not that I’m dressing up, but I have one child going as an assassin and another as a zombie bride (real cuties!)
3: Sipping Thistly Cross Cider. Having been introduced to it by wedding clients I’ve discovered it’s more than a little tasty. With flavours from Ginger to Elderflower it’s a super drinkable cider. Yum!
4: Dreaming of New York. As ever the trusty Wallpaper guide does not fail to deliver.
5: Delving into fresh pasta making. Not sure I have fully embraced my inner Italian as it took a lot of effort, but the taste was superb.
So what are you going to do with your extra hour? For me I’m going to make sure I bank it on sleep. Alie x
