Friday Loves

If, like us, you’ve been struggling to adjust to the shorter days and stormy weather (winter is coming…), then chances are you’re more than ready to dive into the weekend. But while we’re all for snuggling up on the sofa with a large glass of red, we’ll also be heading out stargazing this weekend. But first, here are this week’s loves…

The Kranôg

If, like us, you love to watch George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and then dream of building your own treetop hideaway/shepherd’s hut/bus conversion, then something tells us you will love this “world-first” project.

The Kranôg has been dubbed the ‘world’s most sustainable cabin’. It’s a thing of beauty, designed to connect people with nature, while staying in the most comfortable, eco-chic surroundings. It’s unique as it is totally off-grid (from renewable sources) but is also moveable, so can be located in the most stunning locations.

As part of the crowd-funding to build the prototype, the lovely folks at Comrie Croft are offering a special deal on a spring or autumn wedding package including their barn and courtyard, two nights’ farmstead accommodation for up to 70 guests and 2 nights for the happy couple in the new Kranôg.

You can see more details on the Crofter In Love offer, plus other perks for backers, over on their crowd-funding page.

Quote of the Week

When asked what the one truly unforgettable thing about their Isle of Erraid wedding was, Marion and James had this to say…

“The kindness shown to us by the islanders, many of which we didn’t know! We were really touched by everyone’s kindness, it made our day so special and we made many new friends.

“In particular we want to thank Lynne and David. We rented Lynne and David’s beautiful holiday cottage, Burnside Cottage for our wedding week and when we told them about our story and they found out we needed a boat they got in touch.

“They travelled 5 hours each way so we could use their boat. David drove like a professional and Lynne decorated the boat with helium balloons! We had never met them before and they did it all for free!”

My week in five

Things I’ve been doing this week:

1: Readjusting to the Scottish weather after a week in the sun! Plans for a hillwalk had to be switched up after the storm warning, but I loved walking the 8 miles along the Water of Leith from Balerno to Edinburgh instead. Seeing all the leaves fall around us and the autumn colours really brightened up a grey day! And lunch at the The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art was a bonus.
2: Helping my mum choose an outfit for a wedding in Aberdeen (and accidentally buying myself a new jumpsuit at the same time). Oops!
3: Pimping a pumpkin with my little girl.
4: Looking forward to (hopefully!) watching the Orionid Meteor Shower this weekend.
5: Thinking about making this new G&T cocktail. As have most of you judging by our Facebook page!

Anyone else heading out to watch the stars tonight? Christina x
