Love, lace and London

With just under a year to go until her boho-chic barn wedding, our new guest blogging bride-to be, Adele is getting ready to say yes to the dress. Which means a Presecco-fuelled trip to London is on the cards (sounds good to us!). Over to Adele…

“The 365 day countdown has officially started ticking away and I can now say the very anticipated… I get married in a year! To mark the occasion I very spontaneously decided to tick London off the dress search! I’m probably pushing all the boundaries of bridal dress shopping with a year to go but I’ve just not had that goosebumps “this is it” feeling yet!! Maybe it’s a myth but I’m determined to continue the quest to find out and it’s so much fun, who’s counting?! Seeing my mum’s face light up at the request of another day away of bubbly, liquid lunches, winding up my dad that he needs to re-mortgage the house and seeing her youngest daughter try on yet more dresses – she didn’t take much convincing!! And it’s certainly not something I mind dragging out as long as possible either – as there is really no experience like it I found! There is something truly unique and sentimental about trying on wedding dresses, that look of love from your family, the one true friend whose smile you know means ‘looks good but next’ or that final glance you take at the mirror, bursting with every emotion but mostly thinking why can’t you wear one of these every day?!

“Armed with my shiny brand new Kate Spade, ‘Love is in the air’, organiser (which is almost too wonderful to imperfect with my scribbles but at a slightly extravagant cost I must fully utilise it), I bought my mum and I plane tickets! Knowing my mum’s calming flying nature and hearing the tubes are great when you are claustrophobic, she’s taken on the challenge, bless her – hopefully this may be the trip that really counts! Marks’ reaction to yet another road trip was, well, not your typical man answer as I don’t think he expected any less of me… “I know how out there you are, I think it’s only London that will cut it! I’m just gutted I can’t come!”

“After having a placement in London when I was studying, I loved reminiscing over the tube maps and working out where my mum could shop for outfits too, as it’s just as important as the bride’s I hear!!! I’ve managed to confirm two appointments – spaced out geographically enough if the tubes or maps are not our friends that day! Or if my Mum needs frequent Prosecco stops to chill out!

“My first appointment is at the amazing ‘Grace Loves Lace’ store that is coming to London!! I have become a victim of stalking their Instagram, like many others! Safe to say I don’t have that glowing Australian skin, but it was the first dress I sent on my newly ‘I’m engaged’ whats app chat and the girls agree, I would be insane for that dress to come to London and for me not to be there to try it on!! I had to cram in five of my favourite dresses to try on within my one hour appointment – and I have now banned myself from the website to not give in to temptation as there is just too many! The effortlessly gliding material of the dresses fits perfectly with my laid back theme. Second to it looking and feeling amazing, I think comfort is up there with priorities! I want to be able to run around in my barefeet and dance all night as that’s usually where you find Mark and I at other weddings! Second stop on the trip is Mews Bridal, which stocks the “to die for” Rime Arodaky collection. Can’t wait to get into that stunning two-piece!! The store’s boho-chic feel mirrors perfectly to my ‘a little bit different’ style.

“Hopefully I’ve not made this search for the perfect dress that much harder, but I have every faith that London will pull it out of the bag for me. They say you truly know when you find the one – I certainly have in terms of my husband to be, now let’s tick off the dress! I’ll keep you updated!”

Ah, so exciting! Who else can’t wait to hear which dress Adele picks? Christina x

Adele and Mark are planning a rustic, laid-back celebration that will be a true reflection of the two of them – think flowers, foliage, fairy lights, plus a BBQ and plenty of beer. They are getting married at Inchyra Byre in Perthshire next May.
