Top 10 Beauty Must-Haves

This is a must-read for all brides-to be. If you’re considering doing your own make-up, or just looking for the perfect excuse to buy some goodies for yourself (you can always request your MUA to use some of your own items!), then our style blogger Lynne’s Top 10 Bridal Beauty Must Haves is for you…

Right Products

It really is about having the right products & not just technique, in make-up the saying ‘a bad workman blames his tools’ isn’t quite correct! You need the right tools (or products!) in the first place!!!

It doesn’t always mean that the most expensive is always the best though, as it really isn’t! Sometimes you genuinely are just paying for the shiny packaging & expensive brand logo! Although at the same time there are certain products worth every penny and those pennies go a long way as the product will last & last & last, making it actually cheaper in the long run!

Number 1: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – Hot Cloth Cleanser – £15.50

Great skin always starts with a good cleansing routine & this multi award winning product is fast becoming a real game changer! It is a rich cream cleanser that really moves all traces of make-up, dirt & grime as well as gently exfoliating, giving you brighter & clearer looking skin.

I have countless clients (of all ages!) who really swear by this & say it has turned their skin care around for the better. The results are fantastic & if you want to have great skin for the big day, save yourself a fortune on facials & bag yourself one of these! Use it religiously & I’m confident to say it will guarantee a vast improvement in your skin!

Number 2: Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Protectant – From £13.95

I had to include this in my list as it really is a life saver! All of us suffer from dry patches from time to time & a big day like your wedding day is no exception! This can clear away any dryness absolutely anywhere instantly! Just a little application on any troubles areas before your make-up and – Voila, perfect skin!

Number 3: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer – £26.00

This is an international favourite around the globe & there’s a very good reason! It glides on making your skin feel super silky & foundation blends on like a dream! It will keep your skin perfect for hours, it also reduces the appearance of fine lines & open pores

Cover Up

Number 4: Mac Face & Body Foundation – £23.50

This is my absolute favourite foundation ever & I do rave about it at any opportunity! But it is absolutely without a doubt the best product I’ve ever worked with, it feels amazing on the skin & photographs beautifully which as any make-up artist & photographer will tell you is incredibly important!

Most products on the market have SPF in them, which is a big ‘No No’ when it comes to professional photography, as it just creates a flashback effect, not only making you look paler but it can really strip out the rest of your make-up in the photos too.

Number 5: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer (SC-1) – £27.50

Concealer is very important for your wedding & an absolute must have in the case of a little pesky blemish or two making an appearance! I use this product all the time & just love it, the peach tone gives warmth to skin where needed & the ivory takes out any red tones across the cheeks or on spots as well.

It can be used anywhere too across the body too (just in case of any little pimples that are on show!).

Number 6: Seventeen Miracle Matte Loose Powder – £5.95

This is one of my budget buys, it is an amazing product & such great value! It sets beautifully & really does keep the shine away all day without being heavy at all. Some matte powders can end up leaving a ‘cloggy’ appearance on the skin but this doesn’t at all.

It comes in a great range of shades too & even suitable for really fair skins, which can be tricky finding a brand that really caters for lighter complexions!

Number 7: Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes – £26.50

Wedding day eye make-up generally should be neutral, classic & stand the test of time (from lasting all day to lasting style wise when looking back on your photos!).

The classic smokey eye, like that little black dress will never go out of style! This amazing little palate by benefit is an all in one straight forward must have! It contains their under eye concealer which is a miracle worker in itself & three eyeshadows, a light universal pink shade for your base then another ‘suits all shade’ in a light taupe/brown shimmer & finally a matte dark brown shadow to use as your liner.

It also comes with really simple instructions on how to apply for that perfect smokey eye – what could be easier!?

Beauty Bargains

Number 8: Sleek Blush By 3 in Pink Lemonade – £10.00

This is another amazing bargain, a three in one palate of those ‘suits all’ shades for the perfect blushing vintage rose complexion – perfect for the blushing bride!
Use the cream blusher as your colour base & apply to the apples of the cheeks then blend. Set by sweeping one of the beautiful shimmer pink blush powders over the top. Also make sure you apply cream blusher before applying any finishing powder!

Number 9: Mac Lipstick in Faux – £16.50

This is again a shade that suits just about everybody & is the perfect neutral timeless shade that has enough impact to stand out in pictures, but is natural & soft. These lipsticks are also really rich & creamy making them really long wearing, staying put all day!

Number 10: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – £4.99

My final product & the finishing touch for beautiful eyelashes is another budget buy, also a cult beauty classic! This mascara is second to none in my opinion, it doesn’t clump on the eyelashes nor does it smudge easily either making it a winner all round!

Love this post from Lynne – anyone else ready to bag a few of these goodies already? Alie x
