Relaxed Country Christmas Wedding

Inspired by Christmas and country living, Meghan and Thomas created a wedding that brought together a beautiful blend of relaxed styling and perfect elegence. We’ve already been swooning over Meghan’s red satin shoes… oh and did we mention there are dogs with bowties?

How did you meet and become engaged?

We met running while at university. We were both studying Physiotherapy in London.

We were together 8yrs before Tom proposed. He proposed on a moonlit walk across the beach while on holiday in Turkey. It was very romantic.

Our wedding day was inspired by…

Christmas and country living.

Tell us about your venue…

The Fairmont is a resort which stands alone just outside St Andrews and is situated high up on the coastline, with beautiful views of the sea and central St Andrews.

The Ceremony was held in the beautifully lit glass atrium with grand central staircase.

Tell us something surprising about your day…

We entered the wedding breakfast to “Adventure of a lifetime” by Coldplay and Tom could help but dance like a monkey

We love your dress. Tell us more…

My wedding dress was a beautiful classic lace dress with a couple of personal adaptations. I loved the full lace sleeves giving it a winter dress feel with perfect silk buttons. The off the shoulder satin bar neck line showed off enough flesh without feeling exposed.

What did you do for musical entertainment?

We had a mix of playlist music from our laptop and ceilidh music from the band, we had a rotation of 45mins of each and the playlist was made up of requests from our guests gathered on our invite rsvps and our selection. The music was through the decades starting in the 80s to current day.

Our first dance was “Someone Like you” – by Van Morrison

Any advice?

Just do what you want, not what others tell you. If you have the time and patience try to diy as much as possible like we did, it makes the day and the photos so special.

Why Scotland?

We love Scotland and live here now. The people are so friendly and the scenery here is breathtaking.

What’s the one truly unforgettable thing about your wedding day?

The way my husband looked at me when I was charging down the aisle and how happy our friends and family were all day.

Love the sound of musical selections on the wedding RSVPs. Anyone else asking their guests to add to the playlist? Alie x
