A shared love of films inspired Craig & Andrew’s wedding, featuring music from their first date at the cinema, famous quotes in the vows and a Back to the Future-inspired kilt. Even the way these two met is like something from the movies – they were brought together by Craig’s dog, Hunter. Add in a Kylie & Madonna cake, the E.T. theme tune and a choreographed wedding party dance, and you can see why their summer city wedding had us at hello. Enjoy this #TT post!
Who saw who first?
Andrew noticed Craig’s dog Hunter first and chatted to him before noticing how good looking Craig was. Thanks Hunter!
We were inspired by…
Our love of movies and Andrew’s Scottish heritage.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
Andrew has six sisters and so it was great to get them involved. Alongside Craig’s best man Peter, Andrew’s eldest sister Karen was his best man. The next two sisters Rowan and Erin, played cello and sang along with friends of ours, Bobby and Renuka. The song we chose was from the first film we ever saw together, ‘Once’. We chose our favourite films and built our vows around quotes from them and each table was named after our favourite films.
What was on your wedding menu?
To start we had Peking Duck Terrine or Caramelised Goast Cheese and Red Onion Tart; followed by Loin of Pork or Brie Pithivier; and Chocolate Mousse with Champagne Sorbet for dessert. The food was stunning and the service was great!
First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
Craig is not the world’s keenest dancer, so we started with a slow dance to ‘Let the River Run’ by Carly Simon and moved into Kylie’s “Better The Devil You Know”, with easy to learn choreography by our friend Bobby. All the groomsmen and bridesmaids helped us, which took the pressure off Craig!
What is your advice for future brides and grooms?
Don’t lose your bridesmaids! Andrew managed to lose his sister and friends, Alex and Steph just before the ceremony – they were on the wrong side! We think the best advice is to organise as much as you can early, but not all at once. Enjoy the planning! Also take a moment to enjoy the day once an hour, away from everybody. Just make sure it’s not so far away that you get locked out of your own wedding and have to be let back in!
Where did you spend your wedding night?
At the Hilton Grosvenor Glasgow – very close to the venue and a chance for more celebration drinks after the wedding!
Why Scotland?
Andrew’s massive family vs Craig’s regular sized family meant it made lots of sense. It also gave us an opportunity to travel around the beautiful Highlands after the wedding. Andrew has always been proud of his Glasgow heritage and it meant a lot to be able to have our big day there.
What’s the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
Walking up the aisle to Stand By Me with our mums giving us away. It was very emotional! As was turning around to walk back down the aisle and seeing all our friends and family cheering and smiling back at us. Walking back down the aisle to the E.T. theme tune was amazing!
I love that Andrew and Craig were walked up the aisle by their very proud mums. What do you love most? Christina x
