A Scottish stately home proved the perfect spot for this wedding. Timeless elegance meets military cool in a day which was a whole lot of fun from beginning to end (despite the guests almost being put on the wrong bus!) So much pretty…

How did you meet and became engaged?
We met at Edinburgh University and became engaged many years later on the beautiful Isle of Islay just after my future husband returned from a long submarine deployment.
Tell us about your venue and why you chose it…
A beautiful Scottish stately home which matched the military theme! Hopetoun also has a tiny church just across the deer park – we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it.
What inspired your wedding planning?
I absolutely loved reading the blog (We Fell In Love) and spent many hours looking for ideas and inspiration from all the incredible weddings. This makes it even more exciting to be featured!
We loved your flowers, tell us more…
Planet Flowers were the obvious choice for Hopetoun, and Gemma and her team did not disappoint! They were absolutely stunning, and were exactly as i’d imagined. I couldn’t part with my bouquet so I took it on honeymoon on the plane!
Share something surprising about your day…
The ushers loaded almost every single guest onto the wrong bus which was going to an entirely different venue.. Luckily the mistake was rectified before we ended up with no guests!
And of course the wedding flash mob!

We love your wedding dress – how did you choose it?
Suzanne Neville – timeless elegance and incredible corsetry! I fell in love with the “Image” as soon as I tried it on, and nothing else compared.
Tell us a bit about the entertainment for the guests…
We started off the entertainment in the church with a “wedding bomb…” – think Notting Hill flash mob… My wonderfully talented cousin, Judith Gardner-Jones, arranged a surprise perfomance of “I Will Follow Him” while we signed the register. The look of surprise on the faces of the guests and the groom was unforgettable and a real highlight for me.
We wanted a band which did both live music and a ceilidh and Strange Bru certainly delivered. They were absolutely fantastic and the dance floor was packed all night. Our first dance was “Can’t take my eyes off you” – a lot of fun!
Any advice?
Do exactly as you want!

Tell us about your photographers…
The photographers and photos were just absolutely wonderful. Both Sylwia and Simon were such a calming influence on the day, even taking my flat shoes and lipstick for later on! The photos are everything we could have wanted – totally natural and capturing the moments completely.
Why Scotland?
We met at Edinburgh University and we have many happy memories there so Edinburgh was the easy choice.
What’s the one truly unforgettable thing about your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing all our friends and family (and of course the groom)!
“Do exactly as you want” Sound advice. Anyone else tempted? Alie x
