Looking for a breathtaking setting for your Scottish wedding? Luskentyre Beach, on the Isle of Harris has been voted in the Top Ten UK Beaches in the 2016 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards. We’re not surprised, just look at the white sand, the colour of the sea, and those views! For this week’s #ThrowbackThursday post, we’re very happy to have the perfect excuse to revisit this honeymoon, family beach shoot. So much to love…

Love at first sight or gradual attraction?
Definitely love at first sight. We met on Valentines Day 2004, it has taken us nearly ten years to make it down the aisle!
Where and when did you tie the knot?
We were married on the 6th December 2013 at Crieff Hydro in Perthshire.
Was it everything you dreamed of?
Absolutely! We had a fabulous day with all our family and friends there to join the celebrations. It was a beautiful clear crisp day, the staff at Crieff made everything run smoothly so all we had to do was relax and enjoy it.

Tell us a bit about your post-wedding shoot – why did you pick that location?
We spent our first holiday together camping with friends in Lewis and spent many happy days exploring Lewis and Harris. We fell in love with Luskentyre beach. We returned three years later and Colin proposed on Luskentyre beach. We would have loved to get married there but realised to do so would have meant not having as many family and friends with us to celebrate on the day.
We decided to honeymoon on Harris (despite it being December) and stayed in a lovely cottage at Luskentyre. We have two young children, Calum (aged four) and Iona (aged two). We wanted both the wedding and honeymoon to be child friendly occasions that they would enjoy and remember for years to come. Both Crieff Hydro and our beach honeymoon on Harris were perfect. We wanted a photo shot in Harris to mark the occasion and were delighted to find Margaret Soraya who readily agreed to come to Harris for the shoot. We had such a great day. It was incredibly windy but the only dry day of the week, the sun even came out for us. We all had a blast, the children especially were so relaxed and happy on the beach. The post wedding shoot was a such a wonderful way to complete our celebrations and we have such great family memories in a stunning location that means so much to us.
Wow – this shoot took our breath away when we first clapped eyes on it. And it still does! Now, who’s up for a trip to Harris? Alie x
