Much as we love winter, we’re craving a huge hit of sunshine round about now. And our guess is that, unless you’re jetting off on honeymoon or spending Christmas in Barbados (you lucky thing – take us with you!), you’re probably feeling the same. For this week’s Throwback Thursday post we’re revisiting one of the sunniest (and seriously stylish!) weddings we’ve ever had the pleasure to feature here on WFIL. Scots lass Jacqueline met and fell in love with Aussie lad Matt, when he was in Scotland playing rugby. Nine years later they tied the knot in a rustic and romantic beach ceremony on the Gold Coast. And while the weather was very Australian, there were lots of lovely Scottish touches too. Enjoy lots!

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT OR GRADUAL ATTRACTION?
I would say a bit of both. I liked his Aussie accent straight away!
HOW WAS THE QUESTION POPPED?
A very long story that involves a 66 hour flight from Australia to Scotland, lost luggage and lots of snow! It was very romantic.
ANY UNEXPECTED MOMENTS?
Mmmm, I seem to remember a very fast tide coming in and almost sweeping me and my entire dress into the ocean during our photos! Luckily it only hit my veil and Matt’s shoes.
HONEYMOON OR MINI-MOON?
We had a brilliant three week honeymoon that took us to Las Vegas , Mexico and LA.
CLOSE YOUR EYES, THINK OF YOUR WEDDING DAY – NOW DESCRIBE IT IN THREE WORDS…
Best day ever!
FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BEING HITCHED?
Being husband and wife feels fantastic – a very settled, comfortable feeling after being together nine years now. It still feels different and lovely saying ‘my husband’.

Such a beautiful wedding – we love an international romance! If you are planning an overseas wedding, we’d love to hear how you will be bringing a bit of Scottish spirit to the day. Christina x
