Shoots and Shoes
Melodie + Chris
Before the table plan battle begins in earnest, Mel and Chris escaped to the Trossachs for a beautiful engagement shoot with Elemental Photography
. Read on for a sneak peak and a little update on what Mel’s best girls are thinking for wedding shoes…
“Wedding invitations are officially on their way and soon it will be time for the mighty table plan battle to commence.
“I’m glad our wedding plans have had such good forward momentum so far because the RWC2015 began on Friday and I’m not likely to get any sense from Chris or half of my mates until the end of October!”
“Last Sunday we hit the road and made our way up to Aberfoyle and the Trossachs for our engagement photoshoot. It is somewhere I’ve never been and it is a feast for the eyes! The views are so spectacular that even if we look awkward, the photos will still be good just based on the view!
“We all piled into their car and headed out on our mission! After we’d set off we realised we’d all forgotten the midge spray. We weren’t really bothered at that stage and I didn’t think it would be that bad but later on…..oh dear!!
“Jay and Christina had both been to the area recently for a wedding so had a few diamond locations in mind. The first spot was beside a massive lake surrounded by autumn coloured trees and towering mountains. It felt a wee bit strange at first but I was trying to be as normal as possible and look at Chris and remember why I love him. Ha! We got a self timer group photo here too as it was just too good a view to miss. Jay pulled the short straw and had to make the 10second dash back into the shot!
“After this we began to drive further into the forrest and Christina would shout to Jay ‘that looks good’ so we’d pull over and Jay would scout it out and we would either be told yep, everybody out or we’d carry on until the next potential location was spotted.
“One time we ended up in a beautiful paddock beside a loch full of old trees and ponys and a very friendly horse who was desperate to get into the shot! We were walking hand in hand just acting normal(ish) while the guys worked there magic! I kept telling Chris to say something nice to me – I was thinking we could reinact a ‘real’ moment for the photos, but then he started stroking my face and I was like ‘eh, what are you doing?!’ Lesson learned and the best tip is just to act casual – don’t try and force anything or it just gets weird!
“We finished right up in the hills as the last rays of daylight were splitting the skies. It was so much fun and the views were so breathtaking HOWEVER the midges – ooooh there was sooo many! Chris and I were standing there trying to look romantically at each other but I was just staring at the midges crawling all over his face – you can edit those out, right?! Jay and Christina were ever the professionals though, they were COVERED. I could hear Christina call ‘they’re in my ears’, but they maintained their composure and position in order to finish the shots – that’s commitment for ya! We haven’t seen the photos yet but I’m sure they’re awesome. If you’re looking for wedding photographers who are super enthused and fun, who aren’t afraid to go off the beaten track to get the best shot… and who are probably more excited about the whole wedding thing than you are then Elemental
are your guys!
“On Saturday we went over to my marvellous friend Mary’s for an alterations day! Mary has a degree in Clothing Design and Manufacturing and has helped me with all sorts of alterations and creations over the years! This is the first time our flower girls had seen their frocks too, so Reese, Sophie and Mia were very excited to get them on and give us a twirl! For the bridesmaids we just need to take bit of length off them to make them look perfect on the girls. I’m sooooo lucky to have such talented friends who are happy to donate a bit of their time and skills to help out!
“My bridesmaids Megs and YT were discussing shoe options for the day, YT prefers a bit more comfort while Megs can walk in tear-inducing sky scrapers all day and be comfy (weirdo!) YT was talking about blinging up a pair of flats or Converse and they’re trying to decide which direction they want to go. I don’t mind either way, I just want them to be comfy and stay true to themselves. If they go for flats with blings I have another talented friend Lynn who has a wee blinging business on the go too – its good to have friends!
Anyone else loving the sound of adventuring round the Trossachs with Jay, Christina and one or two midgies? Keep your eyes peeled for more of this soon, it’s a belter of a shoot… Alie x
