Whether you’re planning a destination wedding here in Scotland, have a combined love of travelling or are welcoming guests from across the globe, a travel themed wedding could be the perfect way of bringing together all your ideas and making all your guests feel right at home…wherever your wedding is held.
From Save the Dates, to invitations and seating plans, there is literally no end to how far you can extend the travel theme.
Some ideas we’ve seen include luggage tags for tables on a world map, amazing honeymoon destinations as table names (just to tantalise your guests!)…
For a clever guestbook idea, how about getting your guests to write postcards you’ve collected from travels around the world? Or, an easier option could be to use postcards from the city or place you’ve chosen to get married in (stamps are of course optional!)
And who wouldn’t love this jet-setting wedding cake?
To really keep the travel theme going, how about offering your guests “boarding cards” – (aka order of service!) the menu could be the “inflight meal” and the evening buffet could be “inflight snacks”.
Another more interactive guestbook idea could also provide a forever memory in your home afterwards.
If you’ve guests coming from across the world this scratchable map
is perfect for them to sign? Or this beautiful cork globe
for your guests to drop a pin in, and for you to add to over the years of married life… (Both John Lewis)
For venue styling, you could go all-out and include a storage trunk, like this travel steamer trunk from Not on The High Street
. Perfect if you’re planning a DIY wedding (and have a ready-made spot in your home for it post-wedding).
Or, on a smaller scale of decoration, how about this vintage train ticket bunting
? We also love these super-cute maps for names
(your guests will too). In keeping with the travel theme why not organise a suitcase for cards
? And if you’ve kids at your wedding a few inflatable globes
are bound to keep them occupied… after all doesn’t every wedding need an inflatable globe?
Planning a travel theme for your big day? We’d love to hear your ideas. Alie x
