Magical Winter Wedding

Competition Finalists

Melodie + Chris

This week has been wedding planning in full pelt for Mel and Chris. With lists, lists and some more lists created they are throwing themselves into the next steps of their magical #WFILwedding. Be impressed with this pair – they already have the bridesmaids’ dresses nailed…

#WFILwedding 2015

“After the initial excitement wore off, the stress butterflies started to set in and the realisation that there’s actually a whole lot to do: what have we thought about, what haven’t we thought about, can we do this, do we need to organise that?! So many questions so little time!
“Needless to say things were getting a bit heated in the Mel and Chris camp. We decided to draw a line and actually book time in with each other to discuss the wedding nitty-gritty. We both work shifts so weve agreed that after a certain time at night it will not be mentioned! We’ve both come home from work a few times and it’s been on the tips of our tongues but we’ve managed to keep it in. It’s definately helped to reduce the stress levels and I’ve only been called Bridezilla once haha! (so far anyway..)

“One of the most urgent tasks I had to do was speak to my prospective bridesmaids. To help me sweeten the deal with them, I put together a wee survival kit to give to them when I popped the question: a scratch card for a bit of luck, some chocolates for when I’m stressing them out, a bath bomb to help them relax, paracetamol if I’m giving them a headache and wine gums incase they need to shut me up!
“I popped the question to them on Sunday and they both said yes, yay! So my wonderful friends Sheree and Megs will be there beside me helping us along our WFIL journey.
“Since then it’s been all stations go! Megs Sheree and I scoured the internet for dress ideas we all liked, that met the colour theme and that everyone would want to wear.
“Bridesmaid dresses have been ordered, favours sourced and are under creation and a few other elements have been put into motion. It’s such a good feeling to know things are beginning to come together already!

“Christopher and I have been putting together our guest list and the age old questions have arisen. If I invite that person then I need to invite this person, if those people come then these people will need to come. But then where does it end?! We’re trying to be quite strict but fair and not over think the list too much.
“We have been in touch with the wonderful guys at Twenty-Seven to help us select our theme and design. We want to keep things colourful and fun, hopefully adding a few hints of Scotland and Australia to the mix too, maybe some tartan, the southern cross, Scottish thistle, skippy the kangaroo…? They’ve already been on hand to help us with some wording ideas. We’re still ironing out the finer details but will hopefully have these done in the next few weeks.
“My good friend Julie married her beau, Ross in St Andrews this weekend and she was on hand to offer lots of good tips and advice for our day and the time leading up to it! She was so calm, she was even early for her own wedding! (I’ve already planned in the time to be late!)
“We have made a few appointments for this Saturday which is extremely exciting! Together with my bridesmaids I’ll be visiting Rachel Scott for my dress. I have a few ideas in mind style-wise. I’m liking the fit and flare look but I would also love something classic with an Audrey Hepburn feel. I’m open to giving any style a go really, I just want to feel comfortable, pretty, but most of all I want to feel like a bride!
“After that we’re hoping to get along to the stunning Hopetoun House and meet with the lovely Lara to discuss a few things and explore the house! I am especially excited about this. We both love old buildings with a lot of history behind them and Hopetoun is second to none.

“This week wasn’t all planning though. As you know, my workmate Andrew made a silly bet in regards to the competition and he lost. So last Friday he fufilled his part of the bet and wore a lovely frock and bonnet I selected for him from a charity shop.
“I had to Peter Pressure him into it but once he had it on I’m sure he was secretly loving it!! That’s a win, win, right!? I think he made a lovely sheila for the day, don’t you!
I LOVE that Mel and Chris have made a pact not to chat wedding after a certain time of night. Anyone else got any top tips for surviving wedding planning as a couple? Alie x
