Happy #WFILwedding Wednesday one and all! This week has seen our finalists enlist the help of friends and strangers, from near and far. We are blown away by how they have all have thrown themselves into the competition. Read on to get the inside scoop from our fab final four #WFILwedding couples…
“What a week it’s been!! As we’re writing this while in France, we do have to say, getting votes has been difficult while we’re here. Before we left however, the Edinburgh Evening News created a great spread on us which has garnered support from Edinburgh comic-con (Luke was thrilled by that), several businesses as well as some of our favourite pubs around Edinburgh.
“The timing of the competition is so very bittersweet. All of this has been such a rush, but the fact that it ends while we are on our first holidays in years means that is hard to enjoy both, or either in fact! Back home our brilliant and fantastic friends are still going at it. Fliers, posters and business cards have all been printed out and are ready to be given away by any means necessary. We have spent more time on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram than any person should in their lifetime. Making new friends and reconnecting with old ones has certainly been our favourite part of this experience.
“Speaking of, our friends really have been our saving grace! It really does warm our hearts to see how much the people around us care and how much they want to see us win. Without sounding too obvious, we would be lost without them.
“Alas we are where we are, and we make the most of it while we’re here. Watching L.A throughout this whole competition, has made me realise why I want to spend the rest of my life with her. Her compassion, dedication, tenacity and overwhelming stubbornness has proved to me, that I really did pick a winner, regardless if we win this wedding or not. Either way, I still win 😉”
“So this week has been another hectic but amazing one! The highlights have included daydreaming whilst looking in bridal shop windows, getting flyers printed, and spending time with family and friends to celebrate getting this far in the competition.
“After reading last year’s competitor’s blogs, we decided to take things a step further for the final week. Lee’s mum let me borrow her wedding veil and tiara to wear whilst we were out over the weekend which was lovely. I am not normally shy but it did take a few drinks before I wore it! The village we live in has an annual agricultural show which we always enjoy, so we ventured out during the day with freshly printed flyers to hand out to anyone and everyone! Lee decided to sport a BRIGHT orange kilt for the day to make sure we stood out as much as possible, it was a definite hit! 😉 “
“Thinking about the competition ending soon makes us feel nervous, excited but most of all very glad we have been given the opportunity to be part of it. Reading through everyone’s blogs has been fab and we have loved seeing the other couples photos and stories. By the looks of things, we all deserve to win this as much as each other. Whoever wins this will have a superb Magical Winter Wedding that’s for sure!!!
“We would like people to vote for us purely for the fact that this is all we want now. It would mean the absolute world to us. Like we have said before, we are no strangers to up’s and downs, high’s and low’s in life. If people could help us win this wedding, it would be the biggest and best thing ever to happen to us. We simply want to be husband and wife…and surely that’s reason enough. Things like this don’t happen to people like us often, so please help make our dreams come true! A huge thank you to #WFIL for giving us this chance and letting us be part of this experience. We also want to wish the other couples the very best of luck for this last week, and may the best couple win!”
“It’s been a another busy week in the Chris and Mel camp. It’s been crazy, hectic, and fun-filled and it’s pushed our limits but we’re not about to give up with our voting endeavours!
“We’ve created flyers and have been busy passing them out everywhere we go. We’ve visited lots of local shops and they’ve all been fab and really enthusiastic offering their support and well wishes. We’ve received some amazing shout outs on social media, from a hat trick with The Real Housewives in Melbourne to The Shed nightclub in Glasgow, a local icon in its own right (responsible for many loved-up couples like us!). We see anyone we meet as a potential voter, so we’ve been grabbing every opportunity to speak to those we know and those we don’t about this amazing opportunity to win our wedding.
“We asked our friends to make videos of support for us and we’ve had them pouring in from all corners of the world, the support we’ve had has been truly humbling. We’ve been posting the videos to help generate interest and votes and it’s been pretty funny (and possibly embarrassing!) to see what some folks have come up with! Chris came home mid week with a surprise… a wedding dress! Not for me though, for him! He was determined it was make or break time and with some Dutch courage, he braved it on Saturday and donned his frock! Off we went into Glasgow city centre for the Merchant City Festival. With my branded t-shirt, flyers, signs and of course my beautiful bride we drummed up loads more support. It was a good laugh and people were quite happy to take a flyer to vote, especially with Chris looking so fetching. We also just found out that the local newspaper the Glasgow South and East Extra are going to be doing a piece on us this week, which is exciting!
“We’re looking forward to discovering the results, nervous and excited for what could potentially come next. If we win it would be absolutely surreal! We’ve had so much amazing support from our friends and family along with people we don’t even know, proving Glasgow really is the friendly city! We would both like to take this opportunity to say thank you to each and every person who has helped us along this journey. If we don’t win we won’t be disheartened. We are so much further along with our wedding plans now than before this all began! Having each other is what’s most important to us and as long as we have that we’re happy no matter what the outcome.”
“Another busy week for me & Kyle! Although we both work long hours – I work two jobs & Kyle is super busy on the farm we’ve managed to squeeze in some WFIL votes too 🙂
“I’ve been continuing to offer a discount to my lovely clients who vote for us & share with their friends online. On Friday I did a further ‘happy hour’ with a massive 40% off waxing for all those who came in & voted for us too which went down a treat! Kyle has been getting in the votes on social media. We decided to make people laugh and have a play on ‘the farmer wants a wife’ so naturally dressing up as sheep and taking selfies was part of this! Daisy rascal got in on the fun with helping us make a couch from bales & creating a doggy meme too.
“Coming to the end of this competition is so exciting…who knows what the result will be. We’ve had fun trying to get votes in and my mum has had A LOT of fun on Pinterest and I bought a wedding planning folder *just incase* we are the winners! I just want to know now…We hope people vote for us because we are the only couple that are local to the area as we both grew up near Hopetoun and have a genuine love for the estate. Hopetoun House is so beautiful, we would absolutely love to have our wedding there.
“We didn’t expect to get this far when we entered and we are so grateful to WFIL to give us this amazing opportunity. The other couples are working so hard too, whoever wins really deserves this wonderful prize. With a few days left, we’re going to push for more votes. On Friday there will be wine regardless!”
We can hardly believe there are now just three days before voting in #WFILwedding 2015 closes! Remember every vote counts, so make sure you’ve supported your favourite couple. Not log until we find out which pair will become Mr & Mrs at the #WFILwedding this winter?
