Danielle + Ryan

Photographed by Ryan White Photography

at Dundas Castle

Childhood sweethearts, Danielle and Ryan, tied the knot in the keep of a Scottish Castle. The classic ivories and purples created a feel of timeless elegance, and as the sun shone it was the perfect day after a long time planning.

Who saw who first?
As childhood sweethearts Ryan and I met when we were only 14 and was quite clearly love at first sight. We got married at 25 this was a long awaited wedding for everyone and I felt since people had been waiting so long I wanted them to remember it for just as long.
On our wedding day I saw Ryan first as we had a video link to down stairs where I greeted my Gran and Grandad before walking down the aisle so I could see him and he looked very calm!
We were inspired by…
I took inspiration from all different pictures I had seen when browsing the internet. My theme was ivory, classy and simplistic with some chic looking signs I had picked up.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
I personalised it by little signs everywhere of when we met and love hearts. I feel everything was personal to us as it was all chosen by us. We had a Mr and Mrs Flynn sign on the top table.
What was on your wedding menu?
The food was amazing! Our canapes were haggis balls, mini burgers, spicy tart and meringues. Our wedding meal was lentil and bacon soup, steak pie (slow cooked steak) potatoes and vegetables and to finish strawberry cheesecake.

First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
Our first dance was All of Me by John Legend. It was definitely a shuffle as I had forgotten to take the veil off the top of my dress so I found it very hard to move!
What is your advice for brides and grooms-to-be?
Be organised and don’t focus on the little details because on the day no one even notices as they are having so much fun. Tap your feet when saying your vows as it distracts you and stops you from crying and ruining you make-up.
Where did you spend your wedding night?
We spent it in Dundas castle with close family and friends
I’ll never forget how beautiful a day it was and how much the sun was shining – it just set the day off perfectly.
Why Scotland?
We would always of chosen Edinburgh as we wanted all our family and friends there and it’s where we are from.
