City Chic Wedding
Jousting and JustGiving
It’s been a big week for #WFILwedding winners Susan and Al, with dress number two having (finally!) been found with just weeks to go. So it seems that our groom-to-be Al shall go to the ball – or at least run 10k in a wedding dress, as pledged. Here to fill you in on all the news are Al and best man, Graeme…
“The big news of the week is that I have a dress! Susan’s school friend, Jane works for the charity Mary’s Meals
and saw the post on Facebook asking for help finding me a dress for the 10k. She made a few calls and one of the charity shops had something in mind for me! We dropped in on Friday evening to pick it up. Liz from the Duke Street shop had put it aside for us and held it up for me!
“I’ve decided to repay the favour by doing the race for Mary’s meals. I’ve set up a JustGiving page
and hope to raise a little money for them. I’m still chasing a few of my ‘bridesmaids’ to sign up as well. I’m going for safety in numbers!
Al has pledged to run 10k in a wedding dress and plans to raise money for Mary’s Meals – an international movement that sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
“Over the weekend we bought flower girl baskets and some stuff for our table games! We also met up with my sister Kirstie and family at Linlithgow Palace to see some jousting. My nephews, who are both page boys, had a great time. Alexander even tried some hobby horse jousting!”
Jousting fun! Al says: “Susan thinks this is a hilarious photo of me struggling for head room at Linlithgow Palace!” We agree with Susan.
Meanwhile, the best men have booked accommodation for the stag do and Graeme has written a few words for the blog…
Graeme says: “Ally – I can’t remember much about our first encounter, all I do know is we were both probably in nappies! From then on we were inseparable, we were in the same classes right through primary and secondary school, much to our teachers’ disgust! From then on one of us excelled in the big bad world and the other became the best man! So moving on to the stag do….. the best part of any wedding. Plans are well underway….. Butlins won’t know what’s hit it!!!”
Sounds like a plan is coming together. And we can’t wait to see Al in his dress! If you’d like to show some support and help this very worthwhile cause, go to Al’s fundraising page here. Christina x
