Jessica took ten minutes to find her wedding dress and six months to find the right charcoal linen for the table. We are more than a little in love with her styling…

Who saw who first?
Jess saw Michael first – one of our friends and bridesmaids pointed him out at a Land Economy Ball at University (Aberdeen University)
We were inspired by…
American wedding magazines and blogs.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
We took time and invested care into every decision – especially the small details: having my seating plan printed onto a mirror and painting a frame to slot it into, ordering chevron-patterned straws to the welcome cocktails, having paper napkin rings printed up with the menu, writing unique orders of service and buying my favourite Jo Malone candles for the ceremony and linen spray for the napkins on the tables.
As an interiors writer, the décor was very important to me: it took me ten minutes to find my dress, but six months to find charcoal linen for the tables. I had five meetings and a myriad of pinterest boards going for the florist Gemma (who was utterly amazing and completely got what I was trying to do – it took her hours and hours to hang all the candles from the ceiling).

First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
James Taylor – How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You. It was choreographed by Felicity Drever of Edinburgh Dance School.
What is your advice for future brides and grooms?
1. Pick your suppliers based on personality. Sure they have to be good, but I also wanted people I liked involved in my day – it helped make it the warm, personal day I wanted. I genuinely liked everyone I worked with from the lovely Lisa at Humble Pie to Gemma Bain at Planet Flowers (who I adore), to Emma who worked so hard to get me all the shots I asked for and more.
2. On the day relax and go with the flow – you’ve done your part now let everyone do theirs.
Where did you spend your wedding night?
At Aikwood Tower.
What is the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
Waiting to walk into the Cart Shed for dinner and staring inside at all our friends taking their seats – their smiles and laughter being illuminated by a hundred candles and seeing our whole vision for the space take shape in one perfect moment..
Why Scotland?
It’s home and it’s where the heart is.
