A romance which began in the student union, led to a day which was personality-packed from beginning to end. And with the pink shoes leading the way, the party was destined to be great…

Who saw who first?
I spotted Douglas first and introduced myself while walking up the stairs in Strathclyde union, and we’ve been together for 9 years since then!
We were inspired by…
Ourselves. We hoped the wedding reflected our personalities relaxed and fun.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
We had several DIY projects in the lead up including: Our table Centre Pieces (we had assistance from a very creative lady putting these together); our table plan (along with ‘vintage’ photo’s of our whole wedding party’). Our favours were also personal to us: Miniature Malibu for the ladies and Jagermeister for the men.
We stocked the candy cart with our favourite sweets and we put together Scottish hangover kits for all the guest staying at the hotel, including Irn Bru, a Tunnocks tea cake and a highland toffee! Packing and tagging 60+ bags was a task the week before the wedding!
What was on your wedding menu?
Cream of Lentil Soup with a coriander foam; Baked Chicken & Mushroom Breast of chicken, with & Thyme and shallot sauce served with Dauphinoise potatoes & seasonal vegetables; Chocolate Torte with puff candy ice cream.

First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
A sedate and awkward shuffle, with some uncoordinated moves as the song got faster! It was great fun though and the dvd is very funny!
What is your advice for future couples?
My advice would be just to enjoy it all the build up and the whole day itself – it really goes too quickly, so don’t waste time being stressed! We loved every minute of the build up and the day itself. Also make sure you spend some time together on the day and look at what you have both put together!
Where did you spend your wedding night?
The Westerwood Hotel
Why Scotland?
We would not choose anywhere else. It’s a beautiful country with amazing scenery.
What is the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
How absolutely delightful the whole day was. I smiled from start to finish!
