City Chic Wedding
The planning begins!
Last week, Susan and Al
found out that they have won an amazing £15,000 city chic wedding with We Fell In Love – Scotland’s wedding blog, and will be tying the knot at the beautiful Arta
in Glasgow, this August. We caught up with them to find out how their wedding plans are progressing. From booking a band to dress shopping, and with more than a little celebrating along the way, it’s been a whirlwind week!
After all their hard work, Susan & Al have been enjoying a well-earned celebration. From the top: Dining at The Gannet in Argyle St, Glasgow; and enjoying some ceilidh dancing at Graeme’s 30th (one of Al’s best men).
“How does it feel to win? It feels like a complete dream! Al got the phone call at work, and had to fight the urge to jump around with excitement in front of his colleagues. He immediately ran off to a quiet meeting room to phone me and break the amazing news! I was studying at a friend’s, and had been so nervous, waiting to hear.
“We had planned to go out for dinner to celebrate trying so hard, not expecting to know the result. So it was amazing to celebrate winning! It’s so exciting to be able to start planning our wedding now and we spent the whole of dinner discussing all our ideas. The support we received was truly incredible! From close friends to strangers in the pub, everyone rallied round to drum up support for votes! We can’t say thanks enough, we couldn’t have done it without them.
“We know how much we wanted to win and how disappointing it would have been if we hadn’t been so lucky – so we really want to wish the other couples all the best.
“It’s also dawned on Al that, as promised, he is going to run 10km wearing a wedding dress! (I am determined to join him, if my recent knee injury recovers in time!)”
You voted in your thousands for Susan & Al to win the #WFILwedding competition. They described their perfect wedding day as “full of luxurious fun. Surrounded by our favourite people. Memorable for the music, the venue and the hilarious dad dancing! With vintage touches, kilts, cosy fires, a candlelit dinner and a relaxed atmosphere.”
“It’s been a whirlwind few days since then! We contacted David at Arta
straight away to go and find out what details he would need first. He’s lovely and very helpful. We’re glad that he is involved and we can call on his vast experience!
“We can’t wait to start visiting all the different companies providing our wedding, its going to be a crazy few months. We’ve made initial contact with a few of the suppliers and visited Lynn from Je T’adore Bespoke Wedding Stationery
on Saturday morning. We met her lovely teddy bear of a dog, Button, and picked out our invitations and place cards. The amount of detail and work in them is amazing. It was an easy decision to make as they all looked brilliant.
“We have also managed to secure a band for the evening. We first saw Judge Hardie and the Crimes play at the Dundee Beer Festival last year and we’re excited they can make it, as great entertainment is really important to us.
“On Monday night, I went to Anais Bridal Couture
and tried on some of the dresses. I took along two friends and have another appointment next Saturday to show my mum the shortlist of dresses! Karen, who runs the shop, was very helpful and it was so much fun. It’s incredible to be able to pick any dress from the shop, we are really so grateful to have won such a fantastic prize!”
From the top: Having a wee toast with Al’s parents Janice and Alan; Susan working on the guest list with Al’s mum; and in one of the many beautiful dresses she tried on at Anais Bridal Couture.
Just under four months until the big day – we are so excited! We will be following Susan & Al’s wedding journey here on the blog each week. If there is anything you would like us to ask them, let us know! Christina x
