Inspired by Spring as a season of new beginnings, Debbie and Andy had a ball celebrating with family and friends and couldn’t take the smiles off their faces all day…

Who saw who first?
We met back in 2008 during a night out in town with friends. Andy introduced himself, bought me a drink and the rest is history.
We were inspired by…
Spring. It is a beautiful season; everything is coming to life again and colours are bursting everywhere. We liked the idea that this time of year is a time for new beginnings and the start of our future life together.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
We chose to both follow and break tradition. A particular favourite personal touch was to have our wedding cake made of cheese. Andy doesn’t have a sweet tooth so a traditional cake was never really an option. Having a cheese wedding cake meant that Andy and I could taste and choose each of the layers and then design the cake ourselves.
What was on your wedding menu?
A pressing of free range chicken and smoked ham hock with shallot puree to start, followed by a slow blade of beef and red wine pithivier, daulphinoise potatoes, kale and seasonal vegetables and then a “Pittodrie House” Apple Cloud served with pistachio cake and mascarpone cheese to finish.
At 10pm we served a light supper of cheese, pork pies and biscuits along with a selection of homemade chutneys and fruits.

First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
“It’s all About You” by McFly. We took a risk with this song but felt it was the right mix of fun and sweet. No dance routines or anything like that – just a sedate shuffle with smiles on our faces.
What is your advice for future brides and grooms?
Remember the day is about the two of you. Relax and enjoy every second, as the day really does go by in a flash.
Where did you spend your wedding night?
In the bridal suite at Pittodrie House Hotel overlooking Bennachie.
What’s the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
The constant smiles on everyone’s faces. We have been overwhelmed by the lovely comments from our guests telling us how much they loved our day.
Why Scotland?
It’s home. Scotland is such a beautiful country with great heritage, traditions, romantic castles and stunning scenery and we certainly know how to do weddings properly here! Castles, bagpipes, kilts, dancing, haggis, whisky…..it’s the way it should be done!

You’ve got to love a bit of McFly. Anyone got any favourite first dance songs they’d love to share? Alie x
