Edinburgh-Scotland

From the lily of the valley in her wedding bouquet to her bridesmaids as her something blue, Joanna’s wedding day was both elegant and full of fun. We love her very Edinburgh celebration and think you will too.

Love at first sight or gradual attraction?
Gradual attraction!
How did you personalise your wedding day?
To name just a few… Our tables were named after the groom’s favourite football team. One of our ushers also took on the role of MC. And we chose songs and readings with special meaning for us.
We’d love to hear more about the gorgeous dresses…
My wedding dress was custom-made by Freja Designer Dressmaking. It was made in silk douppion, which had ruching to the side, and a fine Chantilly overlay with buttons down the back. It had a large train which could bustle up for the dancing. The dress had hand-beading made with Aurora Borealis, Swarowski crystals. I wore a short two tier veil with a fine bound edging.
My bridesmaids’ dresses were a dusky blue colour – they had soft ruched chiffon wide straps, which created small cap sleeves. They were also made by Freja, as was my mum’s outfit – a silk crepe dress in pale blue, and a beautiful corded lace overlay. Her headpiece was made by Alex Muir. She also had a crystal belt which she put on for night time dancing.
And the flowers?
As the venue is quite colourful, the flowers were simple yet elegant – with ivory avalanche roses and thistles. I also had lily of the valley in my bouquet.

What was on your wedding menu??
Smoked salmon & celeriac terrine followed by a duo of beef, and with a raspberry and chocolate mousse to finish.
First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
A sedate shuffle to Caledonia.
What is your advice for future brides and grooms?
Enjoy every minute!
Honeymoon or Mini-Moon?
We honeymooned in the Maldives and Dubai.

WHAT WAS THE ONE THING YOU’LL NEVER FORGET ABOUT YOUR BIG DAY?
I will always remember everything.
Why Scotland?
We both live in Edinburgh and are Scottish.
I love that Joanna & James went for a little hike to have their photos taken – what an incredible view! What do you love most? Christina x
