From a Parisian proposal to a wedding day full of vintage style, there is so much to love in Emma and Sean’s uber-chic wedding.

Love at first sight or gradual attraction?
A bit of a mix, Sean saw me first when I worked in his local pub – he said he fell in love with my ‘crabbit’ face! I noticed Sean’s eyes and smile and knew he was the one for me!
How was the question popped?
We had visited Paris for my 21st birthday and we fell completely in love with the city. In 2011 we returned to Paris to celebrate our anniversary, on the second day we went to our favourite park outside the Louvre, we ate crepes and enjoyed people watching. Then Sean popped the question and, of course, I said YES!
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
Something Old – My Nana’s vintage Diamond ring; Something New – My dress; Something Borrowed – My Photographers, hehe! (My friend Gillian had them for her wedding); Something Blue – We had a turquoise blue ring box in the shape of a French macaron! Yummy!

Any unexpected moments?
The weather! The sun was shining all day – when I looked at the weather the week before it was forecasting thunderstorms!
Best compliment on your wedding?
People noticing all the hard work we had put in to the details! Also that they had a great time – our friends are wedding pros, so it’s tough competition!
Honeymoon or Mini-Moon?
Honeymoon in Italy – we spent three nights in Venice, three nights in Rome then a week in Sorrento. Italy was amazing, the weather, sights, food and wine were unbelievable and definitely made it the honeymoon of our dreams!

Wedding style?
Vintage Paris – The look we wanted to achieve was a soft vintage feel that communicated our love for Paris and each other. I am a visual merchandiser by trade so I had my work cut out for me when designing our wedding. I had lots of ideas and wanted to do a lot myself which meant a lot of long nights cutting, stamping, tying bows, etc.
My family thought I was crazy but I pictured every detail and knew how great it would turn out. I was blown away by the amazing comments we received on the day and this made it all worthwhile!
Sean is a musician so it was very important that music had a strong presence throughout the day. We had a String Quartet at the church and at the reception venue playing a variety of music to suit all guests.
Our first dance song is very special to us and we wanted to make sure everyone knew how special the words were to us. We asked Sean’s bandmate John to do a reading of the song ‘Friend for Life’ during the ceremony. Also while we were in the vestry signing the register, we asked Sean’s other bandmate Mark to sing a few songs with his acoustic guitar. Then during the reception, Sean’s band played to a packed dancefloor and adoring crowd. Sean says it was the best gig he has ever played!

Close your eyes and think of your wedding day…now – describe it in three words…
Dream come true!!!
Why Scotland?
We stayed in Scotland for the wedding as we wanted to make sure everyone could join us on our big day!
Favourite thing about being hitched?
Being Mr and Mrs Maddocks!
So much pretty! And I love that Sean’s band played at the reception. Are you tempted to get onstage on your big day? Christina x
