A contemporary black & ivory theme set the tone for a fun Scottish celebration with a very sweet centre.

Love at first sight or gradual attraction?
Robert loved me at first sight, it was more gradual attraction for me. We met on his work night out. One of my friends (Noelle), who was a bridesmaid, worked with him. He then stalked me for weeks until I gave in!
How was the question popped?

At the top of the London Eye – even though I’m terrified of heights! I refused to stand up and made quite a scene, before he finally got down on one knee.

I had to say yes just to sit down again. This was after he put the ring in his car so I wouldn’t find it, then left the car keys at work – which was a ferry ride away – meaning we nearly missed our flight to London.

Also, at the bottom of the London Eye, a security guard was running a metal detector over people. Robert had to tell him before he was rumbled. I was oblivious the whole time, too terrified I think of going on the thing!

Did you embrace or ditch tradition?
We embraced tradition. We had the piper, etc.
Close your eyes and think of your wedding day. Now, describe it in three words…
Perfect, fun, memorable.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
I had my gran’s perfume – Chanel Chance – (she’d recently passed away) as my something old, and Robert bought me a new bottle of it (something new). I had my mum’s wedding band as my something borrowed and Swarovski earrings that Robert got me as my something blue – the box was blue anyway!
Any unexpected moments?
My Nanny was in hospital unfortunately – but Robert had arranged to have her set up on the iPad via Facetime, so she could watch the ceremony from there.

Best compliment on your wedding?
Many people said it was the best wedding they’d been to, which means a lot. People were impressed by the location. It is local to our area but not many people know of it.
Honeymoon or Mini-Moon?
Honeymoon to Mexico – Riviera Maya.
Wedding style?

Our wedding was ivory and black themed – but it was really modern, so Mar Hall really fitted the bill with their black and white marquee and starlight chequered dance floor.

We had lots of stuff to do – we had seating areas each side of the dance floor, a candy table and photo booth. We also had candy everywhere – maybe it was more Willy Wonka themed, ha ha! All of the tables were named after sweets. For example, ‘Let the midget see the gem’…and everyone at the table had a packet of their table’s namesake.

Why Scotland?
We initially considered getting married in Mexico. But we wanted everyone there! So we settled with Scotland. And there are some beautiful places in Scotland – Mar Hall being one of them – right on our doorstep.
Favourite thing about being hitched?
That we can now call each other husband and wife.

I love that Lauren’s Nanny was able to watch the ceremony via iPad from hospital – such a thoughtful touch! Has anyone got any other good ideas to include absent friends & relatives? Christina x
