A marine-themed wedding in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre, where the whole family were involved and a wedding dance that turned into ring-a-ring-a-roses. We love it!

Love at first sight or gradual attraction?
Love at first sight! We met on the dance floor at the Venue, Edinburgh.
We were inspired by…
Our wedding had a marine theme as we live by the sea and are passionate about surfing and rowing. Further inspiration for our wedding was gained from various wedding blogs and Pinterest.
How did you personalise your wedding?
Lots of home-made things! The mother of the bride knitted the shrugs worn by the bride and bridesmaid and the bride made the groom’s cast silver cufflinks and silver shell pendants to give as favours to each of the ladies. The bride’s necklace was made from cast silver and pearls from her grandmother.

What was on your wedding menu?
Three courses followed by coffee, petit fours and a dram. Choice of main course included monkfish, loin of venison and pithivier of wild mushrooms.
First dance – choreographed routine or sedate shuffle?
A nervous shuffle that turned into ring-a-ring-o’-roses once our 2 year old son got involved!
Any advice for future brides or grooms?
Plan like crazy until the week before the wedding then relax, enjoy and savour every moment!

Honeymoon or mini-moon?
Honeymoon: New York for New Year’s!
How handsome my husband and son looked on the day! How much our whole family and friends contributed to making our wedding the wonderfully memorable occasion it was.
Why Scotland?
We’re both Scots born and bred and our roots are deeply connected to Edinburgh, the city in which we met and fell in love.
How cool are the VW camper vans?! I’m thinking every wedding needs one… Oh and the pigeon too. What other details have you spotted? Have a great Thursday! Niels
