A remote and rustic hideaway on the west coast of Scotland was the perfect backdrop for this romantic, relaxed house-party. From handmade decorations to the hog-roast supper, it was all about being together.

We were inspired by…
We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and informal and Crear perfectly lends itself to this. Crear and the surrounding area really inspired us to create something quite natural and wild, rustic and homely.
How did you personalise your wedding day?
We both discussed and decided on all the elements of our wedding this made the day very personal and unique. Our stationery, decorations and gifts were all hand made by us which created personal touch. The day before the wedding our close family and friends helped us to decorate Crear which we have many happy memories of.
First dance – choreographed routine, or sedate shuffle?
Before our guests were brought through to the galley, we had a secret unofficial first dance! The Ceilidh band were warming up and it was very spur of the moment! It was nice to have a moment alone to ourselves!
Our official first dance was to one of our favourite songs, ‘You and Me’ by Lifehouse. We hadn’t rehearsed or choreographed our dance, but we had lots of fun!
What’s your advice for future brides and grooms?
Enjoy all the wedding preparations as much as you can, there will be things that will stress you but try not to forget what the purpose of your day is all about. I had made a promise to myself that come the morning of the wedding I was just going to smile all day and not let anything bother me, so just relax, take it all in and enjoy yourself!
Why Scotland?
We both are from Scotland and love the character and charm of our country. We had many family members coming from all over the world and we wanted to show off Scotland at its very best! Fortunately we found Crear which provided us a very Scottish backdrop for our Wedding.
What is the one thing you’ll never forget about your big day?
Jonathan : “The moment when I first saw Karen walking towards me in her wedding dress, she looked absolutely perfect and I couldn’t wait to marry her!”
Karen : “There are so many things I’ll never forget but the one thing that stands out is how happy I was… I felt like I was on cloud nine the whole day!”
We love how Karen and Jonathan used the location and surrounding of Crear as inspiration. What’s inspiring you?
