Glasgow-Scotland

From a chance meeting in a Glasgow nightclub, romance flourished. Six years later, almost to the date, Louise & Colin’s wedding took place in a quintessentially Glasgow setting. The style was timeless elegance in abundance and it was the best party of their lives.

How was the question popped?
For my 23rd birthday, Colin booked a surprise holiday. On the first night we went out for dinner and then Colin suggested we go for a walk. He suggested we go down to the harbour to see what we could see, but me being the scaredy cat that I am decided it was too dark! Little did I know that Colin was planning to propose and had already done his homework, it was supposedly all very romantic, oops! We walked further along and we came across a beautiful big monument with lots of steps and a huge big water feature, he suggested we go get some pictures and as we climbed to the top of the monument, looking out over the harbour, he got down on one knee he asked me to marry him. I let out the biggest yelp and burst into tears before realising that I still hadn’t answered… I, of course, said yes!
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
Something old – my mum’s ‘Hygiene of Marriage’ book, which she was given on her wedding day; Something blue – ‘I Do’ stick on crystals for the bottom of my shoes & the blue stone on my garter; Something new – wedding jewellery; Something borrowed – my Grandma’s wedding ring.
Best compliment on your wedding?
Two of our friends were due to get married abroad and after attending our wedding they loved it so much they cancelled their plans as they said it made them realise they want a traditional Scottish wedding with all their friends and family around them.
Close your eyes and think of your wedding – now describe it in three words…
Perfect, romantic, memorable.
Why Scotland?
It is where we both grew up and it meant we could have all our friends and family with us on our wedding day.
Favourite thing about being hitched?
Knowing that we are going to spend the rest of lives together, and finally being known as Mr and Mrs Donaldson.
